I got a buddy that is studying at Yale right now. If you want her email address let me know. She might be able to answer some of your questions. As for things to do # 4 I can provide a suggestion, the school should offer health insurance for the students. So you should be able to get health insurance through Yale. Things to do # 3c.ii.iii.iv.v You will most likely need a CT driver license. Licensing Requirements for New Residents
Once you have established residency in Connecticut, you have 30 days to transfer your out of state license to Connecticut. Sixteen and seventeen year old drivers who have a driver's license from another jurisdiction must complete the special requirements below prior to the issuance of a Connecticut license.
Operators currently licensed in another state may apply for a Connecticut license at any DMV full service branch office, without an appointment, up to one-half hour before closing. The operator must possess an out of state license which is currently valid and has not expired for 60 days or more. A vision test will be administered prior to the issuance of the Connecticut license. The knowledge and road tests are generally waived at the discretion of the Sergeant. http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=805&Q=244776&dmvPNavCtr=|#28983
How about talking to your current car insurance company? See if they offer service in CT? I am sure there are a lot of national insurance company who can't wait to take your money.
I would suggest that you renew your CA license right now. They are good for like 10 years anyways right? That way when you are done with school you don't have to go through the hassle of renewing or reapplying it. I am not familiar with the regulations so better double check with DMV before you take my suggestion.
