Ey.
Been a bit busy lately. I'm staring down the last six days before the marathon and I can feel the electricity beginning to build in my bones. Combination of anticipation for action and anxiety that I didn't train enough, though I've logged 518 miles for this 20 week cycle, so I should rest on the numbers like my rational mind tells me to.
I was conscripted into being a field engineer last week, as the number of people at work that know enough to install our year-old 1st generation instrument is about four. Zipped out to Milwaukee on the early flight, mad dash to the car and Medical College on the northwest side of town, five hours of intensity, back on the 6pm back to Detroit, back in my bed by 10pm. Kinda surreal, all and all. I told them I'm good for about two of those a year, so they better make them count.
That said, I'm drawing up work for a more involved study in Texas next month, which ought to put the cherry on this banner year, assuming nothing horrible happens in this last quarter. I better be careful, I seem to be slipping into some sense of command and comfort at work.
We found a lost dog on our blinker run yesterday, and after thirty minutes and some good luck, got her back home. Having had that dread feeling of loss myself, we felt it important. The owner? Didn't realize her dog was gone.
Oh, I had a birthday. 33 feels more like 19, but without the arresting feeling of possibility. I'm much more comfortable with probability these days.
