I don't really want to get to know you but it's not personal; I just don't like people very much. My warden told me I had to work and the library seemed like the most appealing of the options I was given. I'll probably spend most of my time reading rather than helping or directing people to find books because I think they could just as easily find them themselves. I don't much care if that annoys you or the other workers in the library.

Is he likely to attack me? I'd as soon know so I can be prepared for it.

Oh, well in that case there's no need to worry. Defacing or destroying books would probably be the last thing I would do. I value books more than I value most people. I think it comes from my father.

And it's not deliberate--well, mostly--it's just that I've just never particularly had to work before. I come from a noble family and although we are supposed to make a token effort to help, there were always servants and maids and people who did these things for us. Then in the City we were to focus on study.

I really like this flood, I think it's a great improvement in everyone's ability to communicate civilly.

I haven't noticed anything different since this flood was announced, apart from some people getting upset about things that don't seem to be important. [He's one of the affected who believes things have always been this way.]

If I can't work things out on my own, I may ask you. I may not, because I prefer to learn on my own. But there are a lot of questions and I have not found much writing on other worlds, so perhaps I will take you up on that one day.
