Atheism is a religion in exactly the same way as "not collecting stamps" is a hobby.

"Not collecting stamps" is a perfectly plausible hobby. All it takes is active pursuit of removing or avoiding stamps from your life. Bonus credit if you try to sell people on the virtue of not collecting stamps.
