Goddess Status?! rrrriiiigggghht!

Recently I emailed an old mentor/teacher of mine and, in addition to the touching base kinda natterings, I again thanked him for his hours of advice and wisdom sharing. I also half jokingly commented on his Idol Worshop / Teenie Bopper Infatuation status. I spent a couple hours looking at his works and was completely reassured that he was still in that catagory in my world. Of course, the reply I got in return was a nervous " I highly doubt I am worth Teenie Bopper Giggles!". This led me to thinking.... ( ominous music begins)

So often we feel unworthy of the praise that other's give us. On occasion, we develop a skill and we just see it as 'something we do. Others look at our works and profess stunned awe and " I could NEVER do that! That is awesome! You are amazing!" Now, I know we each have our own idols, those people that take what we are learning to do and make it look EASY and Stunning. It is what keeps us reaching upwards. They are of course the Captial G GODS... And we look at their works and just sigh in that dreamy way of " man, if I could be like that.... Siiiiiiiggghhh". ( also equates to .. " their so DREAMMMMYYYYYY!")

A lot of it, in my humble opinion, is our view of ourselves. We still see ourselves as that kid that is just messin around. Sometimes that is with regards to our skills... Sometimes it's because we see the big picture of our lives and figure , to be of worship status, we must also be of well rounded worship status in our whole life. The perfect package. The house on the hill, the new car, the suave and debonair charisma of Rhett Buttler and a black book that makes Jack Nicholson look like a wall flower! We look at other's view of us and devalue it with a blanket " if they only knew...." statement.

I have had people look at my recent works and Sigh the " I so wish" sigh. I tilt my head, scrunch my nose and say in my head.. " it's ass!!! What are you talking about!" I want to drag them by the ear to a REAL artist's work and say... " LOOK at this! THIS is art! THIS is praise worthy..." Apparently, I returned the favor by praising someone else who, in fair turn around, responded with " WHAT are you talking about!!".

So, in conclusion, allow me to pass on to those I Idol Worship ( inserts teener giggle here) that I do not expect perfection from my Gods. Like Zues and Hades (evil grin) Gods aren't expected to have their Shit together! They aren't expected to not have their own Gods they worship, and I certainly won't quit thinking of them as Gods when they trip up and show a human trait! That just makes them more approachable! *winks*

As for those that would foolishly chose to look at my works and doings with such a view ( screws up face at the thought) I can guarantee that MY shit is not together... but thanks for the compliment! LAUGHING!

compliments, artwork, self image, keeper thoughts, my friends rock, first cup of coffee
