2012

So it has been six years since I've really had to let things out. That seems like a pretty decent track record. Overall, the first 5 months of this year have been pretty horrible. Let me quickly summarize (so I don't forget?)-
January: My dad turns jaundiced & gets admitted into the hospital. A friend of mine is pregnant and due to a health scare on her end her family/friends are unable to participate in the originally scheduled shower for December so I bend over backwards to help set up the new one at the other end of the state.
February: My dad is admitted into the hospital/ICU on the day he receives his cancer diagnosis. This month pretty much sucks. I find out my dad's cancer is in stage 3 around Valentine's Day, which is also the day I decided to break down a little at school, just before homeroom so a bunch of students see me cry & be extremely vulnerable. The school district I work for announces some scary plans for the future due to drastic funding cuts scheduled for this year and the years to come.
March: My dad died this month after being in the hospital for a month and 2 days. We are promised to be told something about the job situation by the end of the month. I am told nothing. In the past, no news was good news.
April: I have been planning to take a summer writing intstitute at the college I got my bachelor's degree. Our first meeting is this month, and while it will be a lot of work, I don't give up easily. I have to deal with my first holiday without my dad, Easter. No word on jobs yet, Title I allocations are due by the 30th, so we should hear by/around then.
May: Did I mention I was selected by my principal to be the camp director for our 6th grade camp trip? Lots of responsibility, and while I was informed my job included "ordering hats, t-shirts, and using the bull horn," the bull horn was not packed and the kids didn't listen very well. Some of our staff is clique-y, and the same group tends to breed drama. I stay in my corner of the world & tend to avoid most of it. This month I also bent over backwards to help build a schoolwide Title I plan for my new building. I also am informed that I will no longer be a reading teacher because I have so many other certifications. I am informed that my summer course has been approved, but the district most likely won't pay, so I plan to back out. However, the professor wants me to stay in "writing can be very theraputic", and after camping I think I just will. Now I am an alternative education/ISS/behavior modification teacher. And while we aren't supposed to talk about it until it is all official, it isn't like anyone here will matter. Plus, my new job is contingent upon the school board approving our budget and the job being created. I am considering filing a grievance because the other reading teacher has my job by the appearance of things, however she is equally qualified to do the job I was assigned... We'll see how strong I am. Plus, the 27th would have been my dad's birthday. We don't even have a stone yet, because my mom wants my brother to be involved. He's in Bahrain. Over the weekend he was in Oman. Oh yes, and someone I went to college with and have known since 2001 told me to go to hell last week as well, because she was called out for being a gossip and I was the only person she mentioned anything to (besides camp, and then more people materialize...) Whatever. Last week absolutely sucked for me.
Way to go, 2012. So now that I have caught up (sorry May was a trainwreck- it really still is), I feel that I have some short things to share next.
