Review - Desisgn and Make Fashion Hats by Karen Henriksen

Want this. It's a good modern all rounder.

Lots of different projects + inspiration pics of completely different hats.

Regarding general stuff and basics, there is info on blocks, including brim blocks, trims, wiring, foundation materials, stiffeners, stitches.

The range of projects is wide and includes sewn fabric hats (including a section on pattern drafting), blocked felt hats, using buckram and covering it with fashion fabric, using sinamay and covering it with feathers (want to do both of those projects), straws and a variety of fascinators. There is also a cute little headband veil that I've been having a play with.

I would quite like to own this book. If you want to recreate older style hats this would still give you ideas on how to do so, but it isn't about vintage styles at all. It does have a lot of information on what to use and how to use it and several of the projects do not require specialist materials.
