I am pleased that you enjoyed the Rackhouse Ale, for you most certainly deserved a highly alcoholic beverage last night. I did not much care for it as it was almost cloyingly sweet to me. That leaves more for you!
When did you try it? I hadn't even heard about it, so it was a surprise temptation on the menu for me.
As for sweet/not-sweet - you like much, much hoppier beers than I can stand, so it makes sense that the reverse would also be true! Also, do you like Boilermakers with bourbon? I do, and thought this somewhat reminiscent.
I think I had it when John and I went to GLBC at the beginning of September...or I could be remembering the wrong beer.
Your comment about sweet/not-sweet strikes me as odd, since I generally shy away from hoppy beers (high IBUs are my nemesis!). I have not had a boilermaker, made with bourbon or anything else, so I can't compare.
