Why, oh why do cats feel compelled to vomit on something hard to clean? I had to chase Mystic around the dining room with a piece of paper to try to keep her from throwing up what transpired to be cobwebs on the carpet*. I succeeded twice, but she got away from me on the third round.
*The trick here is apparently also to clean up the porch before letting the cats onto it, since Mystic apparently has a pica-like affinity for cobwebs.
Our garden is going bonkers! It's fantastic! The beans and peas are both long-lost causes, but the tomatoes are starting to ripen, the cucumbers are ridiculously productive, and we have - not that I know what to do with them in small quantity but unintentionally large size - giant okra pods! Also, I declare that my new favorite vegetable is swiss chard; it's mighty tasty for something I'd never heard of before... (It's also the only thing in the garden without spikes or hairs that give me welts. Hooray for non-violent plants!)
San Diego was a fun trip, with fantastic weather and lots of fabulous stuff to do. I even got to see
digidreamer! (For all of 10 minutes...) I'll try to post about the trip and a few photos in one of my inevitable upcoming paper breaks...
It's proving rather challenging to get myself back into the necessary mindset to pick up where I last left the paper. Since the last time I seriously worked on the paper was *ahem* about 8 weeks ago, this is unsurprising. It is also unsurprising that a deadline in two days is the only thing motivating me now.
The bad news is that I have about 48 hours to finish it.
The good news is that it's in slightly better shape than I thought it was.
I'll report on my chances of actual success later.
