"Hyung, can you pass me the guitar?" Yukwon asks from where he's sitting on the floor, looking over at the older one sitting on the couch.
Minhyuk looks up from the book he was reading to glance briefly at Yukwon. "Nope." And he turns his attention back to his novel.
Annoyed, Yukwon throws the nearest thing beside him at Minhyuk. It happened to be Jihoon's Toto.
Minhyuk didn't even flinch when the stuffed caterpillar hit him.
Yukwon sighs in annoyance and gets up from where he was sitting on the floor to go grab his guitar beside Minhyuk on the couch.
"God, you never do what I ask." He complains, sitting down beside him.
"Mmm." Was all he got back.
"You want to hear me play something?" Yukwon asks cheerfully, hoping for more than a mumble in response.
"I'm kind of reading right now."
Yukwon decides to play for him anyway. "Hyung, have you heard of the song "Deadly" by 10cm?" He asks while tuning his acoustic. "It's one of my favorite songs."
Minhyuk mumbles something in reply and Yukwon can't quite make out what it is. He thinks he heard the words "you're always" and "singing before bed".
"I thought you liked the guitar at night." Yukwon mutters.
Minhyuk turns a bit to look at the younger red haired boy. He doesn't say anything though, just looks at him for a bit.
"What?" Yukwon asks self consciously. He flattens his hair, thinking maybe it's sticking up? Or maybe he had someone on his face?
"You've got something in your eye."
Minhyuk leans over and looks at Yukwon closely, observing the space between his set of round black eyes. "Did you even wash your face?"
"Hyung!" Yukwon turns his red face away from Minhyuk, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm kidding." Minhyuk says, laughing slightly. "Weren't you going to play something?" He asks, setting down his book beside him.
Yukwon smiles big at him, happy that he was finally paying attention. "Yeah, hang on." He clears his throat twice and starts strumming his guitar finding the right chords.
"What should I do? I don't know. Even when you don't laugh, you're beautiful. Even when you're flirty, you're lovely. You're deadly~
Even when you snore, it sounds nice. When you smell bad, it smells good to me. Even when you don't wash, you shine so bright. you're deadly~"
Minhyuk cracks up at the lyrics and Yukwon stops playing to give him a frown. "Why are you laughing?'
"It's just.... nothing" He says, still smiling that lopsided grin of his. "The song is really nice."
"It is, right?" Yukwon strums his guitar again. But when he looks up, Minhyuk's gone back to reading his book again. He wants to take the book from him and throw it across the room,
"What are you reading?" He asks instead, trying to sound collected.
"Twinke Twinkle."
Yukwon's eyes shoot up to look at Minhyuk at the sound of the title. He's read that book at least ten times, and he's loved it every single time.
Minhyuk doesn't take his eyes off the page. "You were talking about it before, so I decided to read it." He adds. "It's pretty good so far."
Yukwon takes back his previous thought of wanting to throw the book. Instead, he's finding himself smiling like an idiot. All because Minhyuk had remembered this small thing that he had mentioned before and had bothered to check out his favourite book.
He tried to hide his smile, but Minhyuk catches him before he could turn his head.
"It's not like I ignore what you say, you know." Minhyuk says quietly.
Yukwon looks down at his guitar, thinking back to their previous argument from days ago. He had been angry that day, had asked Minhyuk angrily why he was always being so aloof, so distant... But maybe that was just how he was.
Yukwon was always giving him the attention of the day, always rushing to sit beside him at interviews, making sure their choreographers put them beisde each other in routines. When it was his turn to cook meals for them, Yukwon would always give the best of whatever it was he made to Minhyuk, with a big smile on. It was the kind of thing a high school girl would do with her crush, but Yukwon liked Minhyuk that much.
It just didn't seem like Minhyuk liked showing his feelings as much as Yukwon.
It had always been that way between them. From the day they had met til now, it was an unspoken mutual agreement of their display of affection.
It hadn't bothered Yukwon, not a bit, until a few days ago.
It had hit him that his smiles, his actions... just weren't always reciprocrated; Minhyuk always had that stone cold expression on. Yukwon had assumed, or hoped, that it was just a front. A cold exterior to a.... warmer interior? Was that too foolish of him?
"I don't know, you're hard to read, Minhyuk." He tells him, not looking at him, resuming the strumming of his acoustic.
Not sure how to respond, Minhyuk just looks at the red haired boy, with that undreadable expression.
It's at night and the other boys are back in their dorm, back from their scheduels and they were all exhausted.
They had ordered pizza, deciding none of them wanted to even bother boiling water and make ramen. Jiho was Jihoon were noisily conversing in front of the pizza, discussing their favorite show loudly while Taeil and Kyung had hit the beds, deciding to sleep without eating. Jaehyo was in the bathroom doing god knows what in there. And Minhyuk and Yukwon were finding the dorm too stuffy.
"Let's go out to the roof." Minhyuk suggests in Yukwon's ear, pulling at his arm slightly. It makes Yukwon's hair stand on end, and he nods.
They quietly exit the dorm doors and climb the flight of stairs to the rooftop. Yukwon lets out a happy "Ahhhh" as he breathes in the fresh evening air. Minhyuk leans over the railing, looking down at the street below them.
Yukwon walks over to stand behind him, putting one arm around his waist and gently placing his chin on his shoulder. Minhyuk chuckles and Yukwon holds him tighter.
"You said I was hard to read, right?" Minhyuk asks him, looking up at the grey sky. "Am I?"
Yukwon wonders why he's bringing this up all of a sudden but answers honestly; "Sometimes."
When Minhyuk doesn't reply, Yukwon adds, "But it's not like I want you to change or anything. I'll smile enough for the both of us."
"Good, I like your smile the best." Minhyuk says, voice low. Yukwon smiles at that.
"It wouldn't hurt for you to show your lopsided smile more, though."
Minhyuk turns around to face Yukwon, catching him by surprise. "You want to know something?" Minhyuk asks. Yukwon notices that it's one of those rare times when he's genuinely smiling with his dimple showing on his left cheek.
"What?" Yukwon asks, not being able to take his off his favorite smile in the world.
"I may not be good at showing how I feel, but..." He pulls Yukwon's arms, dragging him closer to him. "One thing I know for sure, is that whenever I see that stupid face of yours," And he leans in closer so their faces were inches apart. "It makes me want to do this."
And he closes the distance, leaning in to kiss him gently on the lips.
