Pretty, young Pamela was a very happy newlywed, with a loving husband and a beautiful home. But all that changed the night Rodney broke in. He’s been obsessed with Pamela since high school, and now he intends to make her his slave for life. He thinks they’ll be alone when he drives her out to the blazing desert But someone else is out there too - someone with a gun.
Pamela hoped her nightmare was over when Rodney was shot, but something about her rescuer isn’t quite right. One thing is certain: she won’t be prepared for what she’ll find when he drives her to a tiny, isolated town baking in the desert sun. A town with very odd customs and a unique way of welcoming strangers.

This is probably one of my favorite Richard Laymon books. I liked it even better than "Darkness Tell Us." Everything is awesome and some parts actually left me with a vile taste in my mouth. I.E. I almost gagged and puked at one part haha. I really liked how everything played out along with all of the characters. One guy I totally hated, but he got a great death. (thank god or I would have ended up hating the book.)The cannibalism parts in the book were interesting and gross. I was almost convinced that something like what was in the story could actually happen in really life and turn me off of meat forever. This book didn't hold back in gore and was super descriptive. Maybe a little too descriptive at times and make me a little sick to my stomach.Richards books always surprised me at how sick and twisted this man is. I guess I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but damn.. He still can shock.
