Last year I posted my first entry on favorite giggles. And to add to my collection of silly entries I am writing about smells. So many smells and so much to tell. I have so many favorite smells. A lot of them have to do with my dad, babies and the beach. Strong memories are attached to smells like Old Spice, Doublemint gum and even sunblock. My dad used to smell like Old Spice every morning at the breakfast table. I could hear him getting ready for work and ask if I could watch him shave.(Don't remember why). Then I would ask to smell his face. The smell still makes me feel like he is near and that I am his little girl again. I miss him. Baby powder, oil, lotion or an actual baby. The smell is always irresistible. It makes my heart ache a little though, because I really wanted to have another baby. When my husband and I were first dating, he would always smell like Doublemint gum and cologne. I would wait at my door for him to pick me up and the smell of the two made me so happy (I guess that was love not the Doublemint). I love the summer, always have. I would cut school sometimes and go to the beach and stay there all day. My mom knew though, I came back with a tan. I would use Coppertone suntan lotion. Back then it didn't have sunblock in it though. Scary. But I am hooked on the smell of all and any suntan lotions, oils, sunblocks or sunscreens. I associate it with the beach, my other favorite smell. Salt water, sand and sunblock combined is a high it's hard to come off of. Cool, huh! Sometimes even in combination with pool chlorine it still can give me a high( not an actual high). And I love the smell it leaves on your skin. I can't forget fabric softener. Downy, Snuggle or Suavitel. To me they all smell wonderful. I think I spend much to much on them , but I can't live without them. My mom used to make chocolate chip cookies with real butter. I loved the smell of them baking. I remember coming home from school to that smell. I miss her too. I love my own perfume, does that sound weird? ( Jessica McClintock) Oh and I can't forget my favorite gum It's violet gum. I could only get it in N.Y. ( but now I can order it on line, cool) And of course N.Y. pizza. Need I say more. Unless of course you've never had... Sorray! Take in all your favorite smells. You might miss them when there gone or the people that they remind you of.
