So I'm back from vacation and started back at work today. Vacation was nice and relaxing but of course, tensions run high when you're cooped up with four other people (no Jon on vacation, he was working) in a pop-up trailer with no privacy for a week. So the Saturday before vacation, we went to Krista and Allan's wedding which was fun. I said that we need to have a wedding every month since we went to 2 weddings this month so Keki is getting married in July and Katie is going to get married in August so we can continue the wedding streak at our church. We had an awesome time at the reception and our theory is that we were all banished to the bad kids' table at the reception which is why we were in the back corner table. We gave further cause to that theory by some of the antics of the girls at our table aka stuffing bread into Brandon's suit pocket when he got up from the table, putting butter on the rim of his cup, and putting tic-tacs under a napkin so when he picked it up, all of the tic tacs spilled across the floor. I am proud to say that I did not participate, merely watched the whole thing unfold. So yeah, there was lots of dancing which was a lot of fun and Lance was there so it was nice to see him again, no Tadan though because he was there in official capacity. We reminisced a lot about our old retreat days and I caught up with some of the girls that I haven't seen in awhile. The reception was a lot less awkward than Greta's because we knew a lot more people there. Anyway, so that was the wedding in a nutshell. Oh yeah and Brandon Frank had so much ridiculousness at the wedding, I don't even know where to begin. Should I talk about the crazy Russian style kicking during Cotton Eyed Joe or the dancing with an umbrella during It's Raining Men? He sure wasn't the Frank that I would have pegged as the crazy at a party type. It was an extremely interesting (and memorable!) wedding reception to say the least.
Anyway, so back to vacation. I stayed home from work last Monday because Dad took the car in for inspection and my mom needed help packing. It was kind of a wasted day off because we wound up leaving later on Tuesday than we planned stayed the night at Aunt April's because we didn't want to spend it in the pop-up trailer in the rain. On Wednesday, we went down to Cape Henlopen and set up the trailer and the screen room which is the biggest pain to set up but better than getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes. Then we went to the beach for a little bit and went out to eat at this little crab shack place which had pretty good food. On Thursday we went to Assategue Island in Maryland which boasts a population of wild ponies and we saw some while we were driving through. We walked through a dune trail and got bitten alive on a trail that went through the woods, it was ridiculous, the bugs were all over you if you stopped for a second. The plastic piece around the lens of my camera fell off and got all out of focus and took some really blurry pictures- stupid camera. After Assategue, we went to Ocean City, MD and walked on the boardwalk, got my favorite boardwalk snack- cinnamon coated almonds, and got caught in the rain when we were going back to the car. When we got back to Rehobeth, we went to the movies and Dad, Dan, and I saw Superman Returns. I thought it was good except the beginning dragged on a little. On Friday, Aunt April, Gabe, and Jess came to visit and Dad gave them the wrong directions so they got a little lost going there. We hung out at the campground and went to the beach; we basically spent most of our day amusing Gabe and Jess. We had a campfire that night and roasted marshmellows and Gabe stayed over which was actually better than I expected. On Saturday, Mom and Dad went out to the beach so Gabe was awake by himself and then I (who was half-asleep) woke up so he wouldn't be alone and we both just read for awhile. After Uncle Marvin picked Gabe up, we went to the outlets which was awesome because aeropostale was having this really sweet sale 5 for $10 for marked down accessories and I got 5 purses, needless to say I was very happy on Saturday. Then we went to the beach that afternoon and saw a bunch of dolphins. On Sunday, we had a bit of a lazy day, we went back to the outlets for about an hour and then went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. They had some really different food like a pretzel with crab imperial and lots of cheese, it was pretty interesting. On Monday, we walked around Lewes for a little while and then went back to Aunt April's after going to Super Walmart (yeah for no sales tax). Uncle Marvin picked Jon up and brought him down to spend the 4th with us. Yesterday, we had a little cookout accompanied by a marathon of Whose Line is it Anyway. Dad, Jon, Dan, and I went to Big Lots and Walmart in the afternoon and I bought a digital camera at Walmart (!!!) after I found out that the one I wanted wasn't in stock on Amazon or buy.com. We had a really bad storm and the power went out just as we started to play karaoke revolution. Jess started screaming bloody murder but calmed down after a little while when she talked to Dan. We did our best to amuse ourselves during the blackout but everyone was happy when the lights came back on. We played Karaoke Revolution and had a fantastic time. Gabe surprised everyone with his rendition of Please Mr. Postman which was quite impressive for an 8 year old. We realized that Jon and Uncle Marvin have really good falsetto voices which came in handy singing I'll Be There and Billie Jean respectively. I'm pretty sure that Karaoke Revolution is the only video game that I'm actually good at and it's a shame that Jon's Xbox broke. Overall, it was a pretty good trip and it was nice to spend time with Aunt April, Uncle Marvin, and the kids because we really don't get to see them that much since they live in Delaware. It's good to be back home though. And I would like to congratulate anyone who makes it through the entry without falling asleep ♥
