I tried a new salon on Saturday morning-the third since my beloved hair stylist moved to the dark side of Mars-and oh, was it ever a hilariously awful experience! A woman selling jewelry in the lobby came up behind me while I was sitting down, and grabbed my ear to pull my earlobe up because she wanted to see my earrings more closely. Then she tried to sell me things.
HA.
The stylist had me in the chair for over an hour; insulted my hair multiple times, including telling me that cutting it was very tedious because it’s so thick; told me I should be grateful the appointment after mine cancelled because otherwise she wouldn’t have spent that kind of time on my hair; and gave me creepy details about her dating habits. Fun times!
On Saturday night,
janet_Carter and I went to see Melancholia. What a fantastic movie-there are flaws, and I have questions, and I absolutely think that the slow pace of it would drive some people out of the theatre. There’s triggering content, in terms of mental health and related issues (if you’d consider seeing it but want to know more about this, PM me and I’ll talk about specifics). I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone. But I’ve rarely been so affected by a movie-it was gorgeous, and intense, and frightening. It was a movie that had a physical impact; I was breathless, wide-eyed, and clinging to Martha’s hand by the end.
Have any of you seen it? What did you think?
Sunday was so insanely beautiful that Martha and I decided a picnic was the only thing to do. We grabbed sandwiches and rambled around a gorgeous little tucked-away park near her house, with woods and a pond and a playground that didn’t seem built for kids; I told her, maybe the playground grows or shrinks to accommodate the people who want to play in it. I fed ducks most of the bread from my sandwich. We sat on a bench under trees with beautiful foliage and watched leaves float to the ground. It was a good time. I would like to order more fall days just like that one, please; maybe right up until spring.
I loved this duck. He was so completely unafraid of us-he reminded me of Sally, the way he kept wiggling his butt and jumping up on the bottom stair and staring at me, but clearly not asking to be picked up. *grins* He kept catching bread in his beak, and I was suitably impressed.
The female duck was much more reserved, but that didn’t stop her from eating a piece of bread right off his back when I missed his beak one time!
Do any of you know that camp thing-
Person 1: Do you want to buy a duck?
Person 2: A what?
P1: A duck.
P2: Does it quack?
P1: Of course it quacks.
P2 to a 3rd person: Do you want to buy a duck?
P3: A what?
P2 to P1: A what?
P1 to P2: A duck.
P2 to P3: A duck.
P3 to P2: Does it quack?
P2 to P1: Does it quack?
P1 to P2: Of course it quacks.
P2 to P3: Of course it quacks.
P3 to P4: Do you want, etc.
I have had that stuck in my head for days, except I am all the persons. Um.
Finally, last night’s H50 was adorable. They can stay! *_____* I have to say, though, that Max stole every scene he was in-I was such a little ball of squee for him. Masi Oka, you’re beyond wonderful. And I like how Lori is settling in. Thank goodness the show isn’t quite so hard to like now that we’ve got the premiere/early season episodes out of the way.
Okay. And now I have to go. Idk. Do something productive with myself. But hey guys, hey. <3
