what part of party don't you understand

I have to say, janet_carter deserves a MEDAL for what she put up with on NYE--me, drunktuesdays and kalpurna rang in the New Year with jager shots instead of champagne, after hoooours already of drinking many fine and fancy cocktails? And then we charged back to her car a half mile from the bar where we'd ended up after dinner at my favorite restaurant, Cuchi Cuchi--making friends with other drunks, bouncers, men in top hats, valets, and cops along the way. No one in the world is a more patient DD--or perhaps no one in the world has more charm (or more cleavage) than us, and that made it worth janet_carter's while? *grins*

But seriously. The four of us have spent the past three New Years together, the first two involving road trips to NJ/PA and NYC in crappy weather. This year we decided MONTHS ago that we were sticking to MA, and our eventual plan was just so perfect that I can't help being all sappy about it. It was just an excellent adventure, and I am hoping that is an excellent omen for 2011.

Anyway. 2010 was a year of massive ups-and-downs, but on balance I feel like I'm happy to be where I am, and so fortunate to know and love the people who are part of my life. Best wishes to everyone in the new year! <3<3<3

To get everything out of the way all at once--Yuletide!

I wrote MirrorMask fic this year--The Circus Joins You, 2600 words about Valentine, and his tower, and Helena, and the way a very important man might find a home. I love MirrorMask so so much and was just so pleased to be writing it--and to have an excuse for making other people watch it and then beta for me. *grins* Many thanks to misspamela and drunktuesdays.

I received a Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang story from lovelokest--So, a guy walks into a bar... which was utterly charming, perfect Harry voice, perfect Perry--I just loved it. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is another movie I can't get over, it's so totally satisfying to me, and this story just reminded me of that--YAY. :D

This year's stories, in roughly chronological order--

I wrote 42,000 words in several fandoms this year, which surprised me; I've been so busy, I sort of expected that to show more.

I think 2011 will definitely be about H50 for me, and possibly more Sherlock, maybe some Jeeves & Wooster, and I might actually write myself some more stories in my Yuletide fandom; I just enjoyed thinking about it so much. I'm sure there will be a surprise fannish interest in there somewhere and I can't wait to find out what it'll be. :D

The Circus Joins You, MirrorMask, Valentine/Helena, all audiences, 2600 words

Checkered with Disputes, H50, Steve/Danny, no rating, 600 words

Begin as You Mean to Go On, H50, Steve/Danny, no rating, 1300 words

Fix Definitely as Desired, H50, Steve/Danny, adult, 15,700 words. This story is, I think--I worked so hard, I could never get it just exactly how I wanted it, the word count is so far beyond my norm--this is the story I just shake my head over and wonder where it came from. And yet it has everything I love and hits all my own buttons, and I'm definitely 99.9% satisfied with it--idk, I think I'd just say that working on this story was the best and most challenging fic-work I'd done all year.

Tell You What (you're gonna do), H50, Steve/Danny, adult, 5800 words. This story was the easiest and most purely satisfying thing I wrote all year, on the other hand.

And You're the Prize, Sherlock (2010 BBC adaptation), Sherlock/John, adult, 4000 words. Sherlock fic is difficult for me, no idea why. I absolutely love the adaptation, love the characters and the actors, and struggle to get what I want from this Sherlock out of my head and into words. I just have so many FEELINGS. *grins*

Fairweather Home, Supernatural, Sam/Dean, adult, 3000 words. Where this story came from, I don't even know; my interest in SPN peaked sharply, culminated in this fic, and then I just had absolutely no ability to write more.

Everything to Change (and stay the same), Sherlock Holmes (2009 movie), Holmes/Watson, no rating, 6700 words.

Oh man, all these Holmes/Watson stories are so cracked and so satisfying to me--I just beamed all over when I reread them. Watson as Gladstone as Holmes! A steampunk incubator! The metaphor that made drunktuesdays rant about horses for days! Bwah. These stories were like, my cracked out id on a platter, and I love them.

(delivering) Just What You Need, Sherlock Holmes, Holmes/Watson, no rating, 1200 words

Hard to Look So Easy, Sherlock Holmes, Holmes/Watson, adult, 750 words
