This past week has brought a flood of Prison Break alumni to my television. I finally got around to watching The Mentalist - the new show starring Robin Tunney and Simon Baker (last seen on The Guardian). I never really liked Tunney as Veronica on Prison Break. Her acting range was limited to a quirked eyebrow and pouty mouth. Now, on The Mentalist, we can add an eye-roll to her acting repertoire. I just cannot see any talent. Despite the predictable plot I watched the first season for the eye-candy and for Patrick Jane's obvious glee at outsmarting people. But still. I keep half expecting Veronica, uh, Agent Lisbon to be fatally shot any moment now. And to add to the Prison Break weirdness, in the very first episode, Baker's character presents Tunney's character an origami frog. *shudders*
Also, the character who played Westmoreland? Muse Watson? He was on one of the episodes too. I'm happy to see that the actors are all getting steady gigs, but it's just. Strange.
My other Prison Break deja vu moment happened with the premiere of Mental (funny, isn't it, that both shows have this word in common?). Chris Vance who, as we all know, played James Whistler, is head of a psychiatric treatment facility in the new series. And guess who was the first patient in the pilot episode? Silas Weir Mitchell (Haywire).
What a week.
