nagase's tongue is distracting
Hmm...what to say about Tiger and Dragon? It was really excellent but it took quite a bit of concentration until I got into the swing of things. But I have to say that I did LOL quite a few times.
I don't know that I want to ramble on the cultural similarities and differences when it comes to manzai, rakugo, and American comedy. Mostly, this is because 1. it would be my opinion and 2. it's very likely that I would be wrong on many counts. But it does amuse me to think about and I'll leave it at that. The nice thing about Japanese comedy is that I don't usually feel the need to laugh because it's expected...usually because I don't get it. But if I'm watching stand-up (it's worse in person), I will laugh because the comedian expects laughter. And then later, I ask myself what the hell I was doing... it's kinda lame. At least with this I can feign ignorance.
Even so, Tiger and Dragon was really interesting. Interesting in the informative and in the omoshiroi way of being funny as well. It's always fun in Kudo dramas to point out the familiar faces. Also, Nagase and Okada are always hot...
