Haha, I am probably guilty of #2 & #3 but since you don't follow me it doesn't matter. I'm happy to follow the scroll rule. I agree with you on #1 so hard, though. I might just unfollow a bunch of the daily comms because of the teenies and since I usually already have all the pictures they post, because I AM that lame. :P
Dude, I am totally with you on the scrolling thing, don't get me wrong. It's just really frustrating when it takes me ages to backread Twitter because one or two people have to tweet every five damn minutes, you know? It's like, ILU, but you are not that interesting. No, really. Although the lists feature is making reading Twitter a lot easier now, so that's something!
Ugh, those daily comms are killing me. I love having pretty pictures on my flist every day, but when I'm scrolling left to right for days on end because of huge, uncut images, I tend to get a little cranky. I think I may unfollow all of them and just pop in once a week to see if anyone's posted anything I haven't seen. I love the idea of seeing photos of dudes in bands on my flist every day, but if the people who mod the communities allow posting of humongous pictures without a cut and don't mind macro speak from other posters...well, not something I can deal with. As you said, perhaps it's time to leave!
I AM VERY RANT-Y TODAY IDK! I love everyone, truly, but sometimes people really just need to shut up. And, you know, learn to use a LJ cut!
See, exactly! I've been organizing photos on my hard drive and there are 1300+ that I haven't sorted or uploaded yet, and a lot of them feature pretty ladies! Your icon is seriously one of my top ten favorite Alicia photos!
Word. I'm annoyed by all of the above, and also "daily" comms that are updated maybe once a week. Which is why I (hilariously, considering my neglect of my own LJ,) offered to co-mod a community.
I voted Lyn-Z, but I WOULD NOT BE OPPOSED TO A SISTERS-IN-LAW SPAM. Just so you know.
Okay, no. I assume it's a "daily" comm for a reason. If you mod a daily comm and can't be bothered posting daily, you are doing it very wrong and might consider getting a co-mod or two. Mods might also think about making a daily post and inviting members to post their daily contributions as comments to the post instead of opening it up to everyone to post multiple times a day without LJ cuts. I have clearly over-thought this way too much and am a huge sensitive snowflake re: daily photo communities. /o\ BUT I JUST CHANGED IT SO NONE OF THEM SHOW UP ON MY FLIST! \o/
Hee! You know it is entirely likely that I will just spam the winner first and then spam the other the following day. I'm feeling really bad for Chantal, though, not getting any votes! D:
Haha, I'm probably guilty of posting pictures too big (more than one = always a cut, but I never bother to check how big the pic before the jump is). Oh well. At least I'm no teenie and I don't tYpE lIeK dIs, huh? :D
And I understand that some people do not care how big their photo is, but I care. I think it's inconsiderate of people to constantly post huge images without a cut, whether in their personal journal or in a community. It seems the old 500 pixels wide rule just isn't followed in photo communities anymore, though. And, you know, that's cool. I just modified my friends list so that posts from daily photo comms don't show up. I'll try to remember to go to the community directly to check in once a week or something.
See, Jamia is very tricky! I have photos of her, but most of them include Frank, and I want this to be a ladies only spam! Perhaps I will sort through the Jamia photos I have and see whether there are enough to spam her on her own later!
I am sorry if the picture I posted today screwed up big time. I have a regular screen and it fitted just fine (it wasn't a 1000x1000 pixel wide, I cut those, of course), and so do almost every picture that people post in their personal Ljs. I'm against two or more pictures out of the cut, I agree with you here, but I have a shitton of pictures comm in my friendlist and nope, they don't follow any 500 pixel wide rule. It's been pushed up, as far as I know, even if I don't know about how many pixels, exactly.
I know, it's a shame! I just have a soft Jamia spot (I have one for Lyn as well, but lately I'm more pro-Jamia).
Dude, it's not you in particular or the Bob community in particular--it's all of the daily MCR photo comms that have been created lately--and I'm not trying to be a jerk to anyone. I love their lovely faces, yes, but I have a normal sized monitor, and I don't even have a terribly narrow layout, and the majority of the photos posted to those comms cause me to have to scroll left to right. I would rather have two or three uncut photos less than 500 pixels wide on my flist than one photo of more than 500 pixels wide. I don't know if this rule differs from fandom to fandom or what, but in past fandoms, in communities where photo posting was allowed, 500 pixels wide was generally the rule. I accept that people don't follow that rule (or any apparent size limit) and that community mods don't care or are not aware of how large the photo may be for others. I can employ the SCROLL MOAR attitude, or, in this case, stop posts from showing up on my flist.
I will most likely end up spamming Jamia at some point anyway! :D
