Okay, so Pedro the computer is still poorly, so I've hijacked my mum's laptop to see whether any of you computer geeks can give me some direction here. I'm generally clueless about viruses, etc., so this is really frustrating.
Basically, my virus software keeps telling me that I have infected files on my computer (up to ten now, I think) but nothing shows up as having a virus when I do a scan of the entire hard drive. Every time I try to do anything online (using Firefox) I get a billion popups from IE, which must still be my default browser. I never used to get popups, as they're blocked totally. The message that my virus software shows when it pops up is this:
Infected File - C:\WINDOWS/system32\wdng.dll (or similar)
Virus Name - ADW ADSPY.CE (or similarly, ADW PURITYSCA.DK)
Scan Action Result - Denied Access (Wot the hell?)
Note - If Search for and clean Trojans is enabled and is executed after scanning, you can click Next to view final scan result information.
So my question is WTF IS THIS AND HOW CAN I FIX IT? Am I right thinking it's some sort of adware/spyware? How can I fix? Anyone have any ideas? I throw myself on your mercy, flist.
halp!
