You're really unstoppable this yuletide, and as difficult as it is to choose a favorite because they're all amazing, this one has to be mine. I love how Tony has managed to take care of Gibbs in secret, how he has managed to turn the house back into a home right under Gibbs' nose. His realization and process of elimination that it can only be Tony was so true. Jackson's letter? So so so lovely. It shows his big heart, his wise mind and a father's absolute knowledge of his son. Brilliant. I might have shed a tear or two. And Gibbs answer? Damn. Brilliant. So, so lovely.

I need to revisit something I said in my comment to "Smoke signals" about you writing "silent" fics this yuletide? (I'm still not sure "silent" is a good choice of words, maybe "quiet" would be better as being sort of the opposite to "loud"? Anyway.) The thing is, they all (this one included) have in common that they're not full of action or major plot. They are studies of character, of emotions, of relationships. Don't get me wrong, I love ALL your fics (duh!) for different reasons. But all you've written this yuletide shows even more than any other fic what a excellent writer you are. I thought before this what a great writer you are. Now? I know what a brilliant writer you are, because hitting the quiet notes and making us actually feel the love, the hope, the pain, the despair without tools? That, my dear, is not easy and yet, you pulled it off multiple times. Congratulations. And thank you. Seriously, thank you.

I'm looking forward to 2015 and the brilliance that is to come. :)

I don't believe that a thank you is enough here. This is really a remarkable and beautiful compliment and so very thoughtful. Not only am I thrilled that you loved the story and could 'feel' it ( which is always my goal) but you have touched me deeply with your words.

As for the story, I see Tony as the one who will always quietly take care of those he cares about. He does it because he cares not because he expects or wants anything. Jackson is a wiley man who sees more than those around him, he is the original Gibbs after all.

'Silent' is as good of word as any because I totally understood what you meant. There isn't action here, it is their thoughts and reality as they experience it. I am totally humbled that you love my fics. I am just a women who has always wanted to write and started here. I want to write with passion and make you feel whatever the character is feeling; anger, passion, love....and it to be real. Life is full od 'silent introspection' and I want that here sometimes.
