I'm not sure if I have written about myself yet or not, or really introduced myself here on Live Journal, or maybe I have and it's been awhile...
My history: I was born in Fall River, MA on August 16, 1968 (Yup, the same date Elvis died...oh yes, and I share a birthday with Madonna, but I digress). My mom and dad were married for a short time, and then they divorced by the time I was 3 or 4. Dad is a retired Superior Court Judge and Mom, well, mom is an artist who works doing marketing. (They were born on the same day, Mar 23rd but 7 yrs apart - my joke is this is why they got divorced...) I have one brother who works part time at a jewelry stores in the South Shore. My dad married my Step mother when I was 9, and then divorced her when I was 19 or so...my dad married again to his third wife a few months before I got married (which is why we decided to have three weddings too, but to the same person). I lived in Raynham for 4 years and graduated at Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School in 1986. I then went to University of Lowell (now University of Massachusetts, Lowell). I was a wild child...no, really...a wild child...but then I grew up...it took a long time, but I did grow up (mostly...heh).
I never did graduate from Lowell (stupid, stupid, stupid...) but studied Jazz, Music Business and other things. In fact, I was one of the first jazz flutists to really stand up for myself and play jazz at University of Lowell...my story is that one of the Music Headmasters didn't think that flutes play jazz...um, sorry, but have you not heard of Herbie Mann, or Rashand Roland Kirk or even Jean-Pierre Rampall? No? Let me clue you in...there are quite a few jazz flutists out there...me included...
I then lived on my own once I turned 21 and moved 14 to 15 times before I met my husband. I used to play at the Cantab in Cambridge...yes...that was me, the chic with the flute...ah the good old times...I played at The Rack, TT The Bears, The Middle East jam session (raggae...ah that was fun)...Ed Burke's or Burke's...oh yes, even once or twice a fancy place...I even got the Giazz Quartet going...played at a Restaurant in Boston...it's closed now..but that was really fun..even though my money got stolen...I think it was my pianist who stole the money...but I can't prove it...sigh...
Then I got married when I was 32 - my soul mate...no really...he is...even though he drives me crazy sometimes...but he is...we have a 5 year old little boy named Charlie and he is a trip and a half. My husband introduced me to Renaissance Faires when we first started dating. (I had gone once or twice before, but not to perform in one), VT Renaissance Faire was my first ever Renaissance Faire...actually, when I was in the "green room" (sort of, it was outside) I was all by myself and saw a guy with tights on...so to break the ice I said something to the effect of "Hey, I think I have those same tights!" Turned out to be a guy I went to High School with...yeah....talk about coincidence...and then another friend of my husband to be (at the time) was a guy I had gone to College with...so...I knew at that point my circle was right...scary ain't it? I can't even believe it's been 9 years...we put together the Winslowshire Renaissance Festival
http://www.winslowshire.com (oh yes, you didn't know the plug was coming? Come on, how long have you known me?) 3 years ago, and so far, it's been really successful, and we hope this year will be successful too.
I've been working full time for over 5 years as a temp at many different companies, but have been constantly at this one company for 3 years - oh yes, and they just hired another new temp...so stay tuned for that fun...oy...
I did go for an interview this week, so cross your fingers and toes...I need to move on...sigh
