So, I suppose I can post now, since it's been over a month

Oct 24, 2009 12:03

Sorry it took me so long to post about what happened to me at my *work*, but I have been sick (ugh, who likes that, not me!) and I have been pretty busy with doing the Haunted Woods in Norton every weekend (except for this weekend, as it is raining outside....again....and I was really sick yesterday with a cold).

Again, I think it would be best that when I write this post to use initials for the person, as I wouldn't want that person to sue me for any reason whatsoever or to use it to *her* advantage of any kind, way, shape or form.

The initials I will use are A.C (aka Little Miss A.) and E.G. (aka Ditzo Psychytzo) sp...sorry"

So, I think you all know the beginning of my tale, my saga, my story...my life...or at least my work life anyway.  I have been the temp at this company now for going on 3 years coming in Jan 2010 (wow, that felt weird to write, but it is coming in ONLY a few months...).  When I started at this company, I was happy to get a full time job, even temping, but the hope was for me to get the job full time, so hubby could get a new job, and then all would be good with the world of work...

I started doing A/P and A/R and trained under the best of the best with the person who was doing expense reports, who left the company in Jan of 08 to be with her husband in California (I miss her)...then from Jan 08 I applied for the position, and got one interview.  They then didn't hire me, the girl who had been doing the job correctly, no, they hired A.C.

A.C or Little Miss A started in Feb 08.  On her first few days, she actually took a three day vacation, that was actually planned out.  Now, bear in mind that me, being the temp has yet to get a paid vacation, never mind take a vacation the first week I start a job.  Anyway, Little Miss A started coming in late, leaving early and doing poorly on her work.  She also took a "mental vacation" in which she informed me that I had to cover for her as she needed to leave at that very moment in time (while I was on my lunch break no less).   My manager was aware of her mistakes, but shrugged his shoulders and finally informed me to not cover her work anymore for her.

My favorite thing about her is one day she actually showed up in Pajamas...I sh*t you not.  Pajamas...of course all the guys were loving it, because well, she was a cute young thing and showed her "assets" in more ways than one.  She also showed up one day really late saying that she fell down a flight of stairs...hello, it's called I think the girl is on something....  So, finally in Oct of 08, the company had enough of little Miss A. was just taking so much time off...and not telling anyone...and then she was NO longer working for the company and guess who had to clean up the mess...

Yes...me...

Now forward a few months when I covered again the position from Oct 08 to Feb 09.  This time the position was not even posted on the company website...no...it was posted on Monster...and they told me that I didn't even qualify for the position.  Then they hired E.G.

At first, I thought E.G was good too, except for the fact on her first day she was late by 2 hours!  2 hours?  Really, you would think that would have been their first clue that she was not really a great candidate.  Guess who had to train the girl...me...

*So wait, I'm not qualified enough to be a candidate for the position, yet, the company thought I was qualified enough to train someone else*

Yeah....I didn't get that either...but I got the raise I requested from my agency...I mean what did they think, I was going to do that at my old rate? Um, NO.

So, I trained E.G. I thought she was getting it, I thought she was taking good notes (well, they were notes).  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the job, just a lot of remembering the policy, the rules, the way things are done at this company, the people, the way you communicate with them...so on, so forth...basic things right?

Within two weeks I informed her, this is it, you are on your own.  If you have questions, you may come to me and ask me, but I would prefer if you go to our manager and ask him.  Cool, right?  I mean I haven't been trained for more than 2 days, never mind 2 weeks...and then she started throwing me under the bus....to my manager.

It started with "Oh she didn't train me on that" or "I wasn't aware of that".  (To be honest, I don't remember the exact quote).  So, my manager noticed that there was a rift between us even at that early stage of the "game".  So, I said to both of them, "Look, this is what I will do.  I will make a sheet with everything on it, doing it step by step, and have her sign off on it, so that way, there will be no confusion."  This was smart of me to do by the way, covering my a$$.

Now, at this point, I was still covering for her on any days she had to take off, because that is my job as the temp to cover for people who are out.  Well, in April, she sent me a NOT so lovely e mail stating that she didn't want me doing any of her work, because she had it "organized" in such a way.  I showed this to my manager who then said, "Well, she's on her own then, don't cover for her any longer."

Then I told shipping and facilities that all mail for expense reports were to be sent to her, and not me.  I would not even sign off on FedEx packages coming in.

Fast forward to June of 09.  Now, bear in mind, that I was doing the Renaissance Faire (oh yes, I love when I can add my own plug here, *coming next year in June 2010 Winslowshire!) in Norton that weekend, the last weekend of June.  I was a zombie, but if I don't go in, I don't get paid...so I went in.

I got an e mail that morning from an employee asking about expense reports.  I simply e mailed him back saying "You will need to forward this e mail to E.G, as I don't get the expense reports, as she has the position."

Now, meanwhile, my manager noticed that she was making some mistakes, my other A/R manager was noticing that she was also making mistakes.

Basically, FedEx doesn't arrive to our office until 11ish, sometimes 12 pm.  So, this lady, E.G. (If I can call it a stretch to call her that) basically sent him (cc'd me, and my manager) saying that she didn't have the paperwork (this was at 10 am), and asked if I had the paperwork.  I didn't respond to the e mail, as my manager requested I have no contact with this woman.  So, I didn't answer.  Maybe 10 to 15 minutes later, she sent ANOTHER e mail this time Capped, bold and Red (no less) saying that I had not responded (of course her English wasn't her first language, and well, it wasn't written up that way, but that was the gist of it).

At this point, I was pretty upset.  I then went to my manager and said..."I don't get any paperwork, Facilities knows this, and I don't even have a mail box with my name on it anymore downstairs, please inform her, that I don't get anything!"
His response was "This is probably because FedEx has not arrived yet."
My response was, "Well, you need to inform her of that ."
His response was "No, you tell her.
My response to go to her was "E. Fed Ex has not arrived yet, I do NOT get any paperwork anymore, you get everything!"
Her response back to me was 'Oh, I didn't know that."
My response back to her was "F*CK YOU!" (oh yes, the whole office heard it, I think even the guard downstairs heard that one.)

I know...not good...but I couldn't take any more crap from her...but it didn't end there.
Her "father" supposedly died a few weeks after that (maybe a month later) she was out oh so often...days here and there, mostly Mondays and Fridays were her favorite to take off.  I say supposedly (and G*d forbid me saying/writing that) but she came in the day after the fact...huh? Yeah, I didn't get that either...and then took off the next couple of days...including a day I was not informed of.

Then in August, (right near my birthday) she went to HR and informed them that I made a racial comment.  Now, I would NEVER SAY, DO, WRITE, or JUST DO THAT like EVER!!!  So, I was being investigated and I couldn't talk about it...with anyone...especially in the Finance Department.

I stood my ground, I made my case perfectly clear to the HR department and every claim that she did make was sort of stupid and slanderous to say the least.  No one else liked her much either.

In fact, the day after I had my "investigation" the company had an outing a back yard bbq and I sat with my group, (not saying a word) and then she came out and refused to sit with us.  In fact one of my other co-workers asked me to ask her to sit with us, and I said out loud to make sure that she heard me "NO, I will not do that...You can do that if you like, but I will not do that."

Finally HR dropped the case, and a few months later, she is now gone....and guess who is cleaning up the mess....again....

Yes....me.....

temping, standing up for myself, finance, saga, work, story, drama, racial remarks
