The Adventure Monkeys in: "Escape from Baghdad"

Aug 12, 2004 08:59

It is now official: Royal Jordanian can blow me.  We spent all day yesterday trying to board the Baghdad-Amman flight, only to be repeatedly delayed until all flights that day were cancelled.  We were promised a flight this morning, and so at 6:30 A.M. we dragged our tired selves down to the airport to try again.  And guess what?  Not only is the plane still grounded due to technical problems, but it's the only plane they are authorized to operate over Iraq, and they have no projected date or time for the next flight.

We've had enough of waiting on other people to do their damn jobs.  And so, we take our destiny in our hands.  We go to Turkey.

In ten minutes, we begin the 7-hour drove to Zakho, the small Iraqi/Turkish border town.  From there, we have a Turkish taxi driver to take us to Diyar Bakir, where a nice, sane reliable airline will take us to Istanbul.  From Istanbul, we wing our way ... to freedom!

All previously posted schedules are hereby cancelled.  If you have plans with us, wait a few days to find out what's going on.  Burning Man and Spokane are still on.  This Saturday night in SLO is most certainly not.  We shall see you
Babylon 5> in the fullness of time.
