Well, I finally did something with tolaris.com. Would one of you with a paid account please syndicate it? Here is the LJ syndication feed, courtesy bandicootI intend to continue using LJ for personal matters; tolaris.com is my technical blog. I've found little interest from my friends on technical matters, and until recently my blog wasn't indexed on ( Read more... )

We work very hard to analyse and patch every issue they generate. Then I chew granite when they reply to my carefully prepared issue report with "the issue isn't really that important" / "it's been documented for the last 4 major versions, and has a work around, so that's like a fix" / "we're not going to fix it"

That is a general malaise in most quarters where secure coding is concerned.. Or lack thereof. Even when you tell them they still would rather code sloppy or loose. Security in general from coding to actually having policies etc is a hard sell even in these times when China is knocking at the door every minute.

I'm surprised some people are not freaked out by the fact that pretty much all computers are made in china nowadays. I know i am.

Hah! The only difference between "legitimate" chips/routers/mainboards and "counterfeit" ones is an extra production run in the factory after the official ones are done. "WOW, these look so real!" That's because they came off the same conveyor belt as the licensed ones!

Hah... that's nothing... how's this for vendor annoyance... darylmanning October 12 2008, 17:33:58 UTC
For massive search problem which has caused no end of difficulties on the main web site with a vendor's document management system...

Took us *months* to track down the problem it's so insidious, get the vendor to acknowledge it, and _then_ give them a precise test case so they could replicate it in their own environment before they'd give us the time of day.

The response from their top Support folks ?

"It's working as designed but not as desired."

No joke.

However, it's amazing what you can get fixed when you scream at the CEO very, very irrationally... =]

It's not done yet, by far. I've modified it for variable width, but I don't have the sliding headers for a variable width top image yet. More as it develops.

God, that tolaris.com stuff looks really dull. Thanks for moving it elsewhere!

Hope you're well.
