"Located on 145 acres of forested land in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Camp Sky Ranch offers a fun-filled camping experience for the handicapped. We provide a summer vacation in a place where it's easy to participate in varied activities, make friends, feel accepted, build skills, and enhance self-confidence."
I leave in the morning!
Mondo excited. MONDO. It's going to be a blast, what with the awesome counselors, the super kids, and the gorgeous surroundings. I get to spend the entire summer with my sister!
I hope this experience clears up the doubts that are beginning to overshadow my choice of career... Sometimes I feel guilty that, in the foreign service, I'm not going to impact many lives, individually. I suppose I just have to reconcile this need to help people with the desire to serve my country. I dislike uncertainty. And there doesn't seem to be much overlap, either. What can you even do with a political science degree? Half the time I'm tempted to switch to agriculture management or public health. Seems like it would be more useful, that I would be able to tangibly influence more lives. Le sigh.
Anywho, see y'all in August; try to get along without me, if it's at all possible. Oh, and write me letters. Please. I promise I'll write back--maybe I'll include a haiku... or a friendship bracelet... or pine needles! Most likely just the pine needles, less work that way. But, loyal readers (ahem, Jess, ahem) we shall reunite at the beach with the most fantastic shenanigans imaginable... think bonfire, blow up dolls, and 151.
Jess, over and out.
