Oh my gah people. It's just a TV show, settle down. Nobody actually died.
Writers have the right to kill off who they please and when. That includes characters you like along with characters you don't, good guys and bad guys alike. They created the characters, it's their call what happens to them. It has nothing to do with a "god complex". You want a happy-sappy story where nobody dies and everyone has love-love babies forever and ever? Write your own damn books. I can't guarantee anyone will read them, but whatever. At least nobody will diiiiiie.
Or, you know, read the damn books so you know what happens.
