Sooooo...now someone's claiming that the toys in McDonald's Happy Meals are responsible for childhood obesity. Funny, that. I had a lot of Happy Meals as a kid, and I wasn't fat. Far from it. Of course, I didn't just sit on my ass watching cartoons and playing video games either. Granted, I did THAT, but I also went out and played. Also, my mother wasn't pushing me around in a stroller when I was old enough to walk. I've seen six-year-olds in strollers.

The same group presumably (I'm only half-listening to the news and didn't catch the name) claims that children believe food with cartoon characters on it tastes better. Is it just me, or does that seem like they're reaching a bit? Sort of like "we don't want to blame ourselves for our kids being obese, so we'll blame toys and packaging".

However, I spy a way to get children eating healthily. Take vegetables and slap cartoon characters on the packaging. If the cartoon logic holds, you'll be having them eating right in no time. BRILLIANT. Now where's my parade, for I am the savior of humankind.
