Some days you should hide under the covers because there are big scary monsters out there and they like to eat you up and spit you out. You always know when one is coming and you know you should hide - but someone always talks you into getting out of bed, and then you are truly screwed - the scary monster will win!!! I do believe that the people who convince us to get out of bed and face the day are paid by the scary monster to gert us to come out and get eaten.
As you may have surmised - it was a bad day to get out of bed. I kept trying to resist through the several inane phone calls from Shorty asking did I have change for a $20.00 bill, what was I doing today, could I go to Gainesville to get Krispy Kreme for her guests, and did I find any of the things she asked me to look for yesterday in Ocala. The call that finally got me out of bed was from my Dad, saying Mom had called from the doctor's office and was being sent for some test on her heart - of course, he didn't know where or what since he answered the phone without his hearing aide which he is too vain to wear around the house.
So after a panic call to Mom and throwing clothes on, racing to town - I spent the next two hours in a cardiologist's office watching them run an ekg and other things. They set her up for a cardiac cath in the morning and upped some heart meds to protect her heart until it is done. By now it is 2:45 and time to meet Dad at the Specialist at Shands for results of his mri on his hip. Mom wants to go and wants me there. So, we now have 3 cars in town - We meet for the doctor's results - oh Joy!! he has to have another surgery on his spine. We were referred to a neurosurgeon for the surgery. Mom asked DAd to stop on his way home to get milk, since she is now rather gray from the stress of the day and popping nitrostats for chest pain. He says Where do I get it? I wanted to say find a cow, but thought better of it. Mom told him nevermind - she would get it. I go back across town and get the Krispy Kreme for Shorty and some for Mom. Mom and I arrive home to find Dad saw a grocery store and figured out that he could get milk there and hadn't we said something about wanting donuts??
He got such a bargain on the milk - $1.42 per quart - I thought Mom would choke!!
Then we listen to her answering machine - the cath lab called and postponed until Wednesday - her doc who put in her first 2 stents didn't want another doc to do the procedure.
Yep, the monster ate me and spit me out - I should have hid under the covers.
