Everyone important is dead, and Nietzsche needs medical attention

I'm horrible at juggling, I hate juggling and I hate abstracts. Apparently my abstract too much of 'we took A, hurled it at R, G, E, F, N and I to see where it went splat' and needs more 'jargon jargon jargon jargon jargon'. Either way, never joining a circus.

That (or this? Does the continuity of the week still continue on?) was a pretty miserable week, surprise package nonwithstanding. Weird spot in life, or phase. Least professors aren't breathing down my neck for fixing things anymore.

btw has anyone published a paper in a reputable journal before what am I doing and how am I supposed to keep this in the page limit with all this jargon

This is a roundabout slightly misanthropic way of apologizing for being absent, though I suppose apologizing isn't by nature misanthropic. I just wanted to use the word. I think I caught up mostly. Maybe?

Anyhow, I have something of a dilemma, impasse, poll, choice of importance, life decision, something worthy of input, etc and etc to ask of you, flist. Comparatively important matter, that is. I'm trying to decide who to ask to write my rec letters, of which I need either 2 or 3, depending on who's asking. We'll just say three, and there are a total of four possible people I can ask to write them- PI, department chair, big name professor, and old boss.

[When indecisive turn to the internet]
PI is a basic have to, since it'd be kind of awkward to mention I published/am working publishing papers with his name attached and not get a letter from him? He'll write me a good letter (not sure in terms of quality, but it won't be condemning). The difficulty comes in choosing who to be the other two.

Department chair (DC) is department chair, so that in of itself carries a lot of weight. Lots of weight. But the only class he had me for was orgo, and I am shit at orgo. But he's also been the one who's seen me around the lab at like 6 AM and became convinced I never left. But he also said I shouldn't ask him for a letter, but I don't know if he was being ironic/sarcastic or not. It's hard to tell.

Big name professor (BNP), is well, as it stands. PhD from Stanford in their structural bio program, post doc at Duke, found pretty ground breaking stuff in cancer during research, and got some pretty big grants. But only had me for two classes that were about two years apart, and outside interactions mostly limited to me asking questions about cells and discussing possible lines to take wet side. Also said he'd be pretty time crunched, so may not actually be able to do it if I don't ask along in time as in very soon. Slightly outside of field, depending on what I do settle on.

Old boss (OB) is my old boss from old more or less unpaid slave labor. Upside is that he also spent about ten (or more? I never counted) years as a nuclear engineer for the Navy, and said he could write a good letter in about three days. Has known me for the longest of all of the above, however, outside of field so.

So, I need help in picking the combination because rolling dice doesn't seem adequate for decision making trees.
