Wall-E was a great movie. Possibly the best kid’s movie ever, since it had a decent message in it. Go see it (not that I did, really…Ish.). I’d write a longer review, but it’d be spoilerish so I’ll save that for conversation, if you people ever see it, with the movie ticket prices being so insanely high.
Early on in the day, some bird (or other flying animal) crashed into my window/wall/roof/somewhere near my room. I still don't know what it was, nor do I think I shall.
Hrn. Apparently, today was the day that everyone got their AP scores. Oh, and I have a story about that. It's awesome: I ran down to the mailbox (with the mail guy giving me an odd look as I ran out), grabbed the mail, and shuffled through it. and saw an envelope from Collegeboard. I grabbed it, and saw it was my sister's (I still looked at it, anyhow) and went back to looking for mine. Guess what happened?
Wait for it. Give the dramatic pause some space.
It wasn't there. As in, my scores, the envelope with my name stamped on it, the paper construction that held in it a sheet of papers with various numbers, for some bloody absurd reason, WAS NOT THERE. So, to say the least, I was pretty annoyed. Still don't know where that envelope is. And I'm left in suspense, still.
Oh, and apparently my letter to Savannah was lost en route or something. That may be more of my fault, though.
Oh, and here's the best part: I was starting up my computer, as ever, and I pulled up iTunes. And, lo and behold, in the program, in an utter fit of quixoticity, decides to make a new library. No, the old one won't do! We much have a new one since all the music was shifted on letter down! Which meant, for me, that all the songs/play lists on iTunes were deleted. The music's still there (thankfully), but now I get to re-upload all 2,247 songs. And track down all the theme songs.
Which is what really annoys me, about this program: it's unable to adapt outside its basic parameters. It’s a program, I know, but the basic inability to adapt to even the slightest, remotest change, just irks me. If I alter a letter in a file, if I change a lowercase letter to uppercase, if I add or subtract anything, then the program fails utterly to acknowledge that it is even there. It can’t comprehend anything outside a very narrow limitation: it can’t adjust beyond the constructions of logic and commands that are built into it. Which, if you think about it, is one of the only key difference between a human and a machine: the capability to adjust, to think outside of the obtrusive box. A computer that could manage to insert ‘Ha ha’ as appropriated in response to certain remarks, however, could possibly be defined as being sentient. It would be as sentient as a human, who really just are creatures of observation and instructions as well.
Oh, bloody why not? I borrowed this off Jessie, and I have time to kill.
List fifteen fictional characters you would make out with and tag five people to do the same.
1. Daenerys Targaryen (ASoIaF) She’s really quite self explanatory. I mean, she started out as an outcast princess, and up to date, gets her own dragons…Strong, confident, and downright amazing.
2. Polgara (Polgara the Sorceress, The Belgariad, The Malloreon) She’s pretty old (I think by the last book, she’s something near 500+ years old) but she’s still pretty spiffy. And, according to the description, she’s the most handsome woman in the world.
3. Movie/book Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice) She’s amusing, sarcastic, witty and intelligent. Need I say more?
4. Vin (Mistborn) My favorite female character in the book. She’s been described as ‘pretty’? Or at least Elend called her that, but even so, she’s just so awesome.
5. Yvaine (Stardust) The movie and book versions of her are remarkably similar, though the book one is a bit more headstrong, and not as nice as the movie one. So I’d pick the movie one over the book one, but both would be fine with me.
6. Eowyn. I don’t think I need to list where she comes from. Why? She’s blond hair, blue eyed, doesn’t take no for an answer, and gets right back up after you knock her down. ‘I am no man.’
7. Lyra (His Dark Materials) I’m slightly hesitant with putting this….I liked her enough back when I read the books. (The movie portrayal of it, though, ugh. Terrible.) Then again, I haven’t really touched the books since then, and it’d be near statutory rape with the age thing considered.
8. R’Shiel (Medalon, etc.) Anyone know why she has to have some weird funky name like that?
Alright….Those are all the ones that I might possibly, willingly, make out with. The rest of these are the ones that I wouldn’t mind making out with, simply here to see if I can get to 15. The above ones would likely be more like ‘Fictional Girlfriends’
9. Izzie (The Fountain) By Izzie, I don’t mean the queen of Spain; I mean the present day Izzie. She sends her husband on a 500 year long journey (so one theory says) or on a very long, extensive train of thought. How much more attractive can you get?
10. Siona Atreides (God Emperor of Dune) Essentially, the one woman who would overthrow Leto’s empire by sheer strength of will.
11. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) This one actually…Surprised me. It’d be awkward. I mean, she’s intelligent enough, but her personality isn’t the type of someone you’d make out with. But really, Ginny? Hermione>Ginny. Still, if it gets me to 15.
12. Arwen (Not saying if you don’t know…) She’s pretty. That’s about all she is, really. She sits around, and makes crying look attractive.
13. Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy 7, Advent Children, etc.) Well, mainly cause I need people to fill in these spaces. She’s pretty, nice, amusing, and a bit tragic. Actually, really, really tragic. Why not?
14.Sansa (ASoIaF) What do we have here? Naive, idealistic, cheerleader. She’s supposed to be pretty, so I guess that’s forgiven (a bit)
15. Sam/Laura (American Gods) They’re all fairly likable, especially that long, long speech about what Sam believes in (except Laura’s technically dead and rotting so…Icky). Don’t see near enough of their characters, though.
That was fun, even if it took me the better part of an hour.
I did my first playtesting bout with Eventide. All I have to say is that the smaller amount of cards is really making itself evident, and making it a bit hard.
