10.10.10 in binary is 42; today is the meaning of the universe

Oct 10, 2010 23:15

Wohoo, this turned out to be a massively unorganized long post. Didn't mean for that to happen.

Absolutely nonfandom related things aka this thing called life. Mostly? Midterms and stressful things like that. Pchem is killing me. Inorganic is killing me. Orgo lab is killing me. I wish I was a cat; I'd have enough lives. BUT IT IS FALL BREAK and the weather is amazing and I may have just sat outside and read a book. I like it best when no one's around and it's warm and quiet and sunny. Writing again with actual free time; that also feels really good; laughing is good. Even if I realized one of the characters was literally me

MY E. COLLI CULTURE BE GROWING IT UP IN SOME BROTH YO =D

The best reaction to this is described in the following when I said that to a friend-

Friend: are you okay?
Me: yes
Me: mostly
Me: kind of
Friend: ...
Friend: that was the last thing I expected from you

sabersailor  gave me the idea of making the E. Colli glow, so I asked my PI about it as a research project with some justification behind it. He just looked at me. For a long time. It didn't help that this was going through my head-

And I started laughing. The next day, I found a plant at my desk in the lab. It's now occupying the space near the window, growing very quickly and named Elend.

In other news, I'm learning more duties at the store, but what this entails, who knows?

And the whole thing with grad school, yesh. Apparently, the Navy has a program where you teach a subject for them for two years for their nuclear engineering program in Charleston, South Carolina. They give you food, shelter, etc. while you're stationed there and they'll pay you over two years enough to amount to a total of 70,000. You technically are part of the Navy as an officer, I think? Oh, and they'll pay for part of grad school, and to boot, it nets you a lot of good recommendations. Like, get into almost any grad school type.

The catches (that I've found so far) are that you're stuck in one area for two years. Teaching in the Navy. Assuming you can get in. It is a thought, except for the whole Navy thing. Just, y'know. Not exactly my sect of things.

I'm probably going to be stuck around school over the summer, just so I can get some classes out of the way and so I can get some actual progress on my research done, because goddamnit. I'm not making anywhere near enough progress, and time constraints are burning me out. Plus, the grant is upwards of 2.5k, with 1-1.5k being a stipend, sooo.

Spoilers! Who doesn't like spoilers? More specifically, the spoilers from Digital Spy- particularly, the first 42 hints, and then the SJA spoilers that are actually relevant to interests.

SJA hints first- I AM SO GOING TO WATCH THE EP. WITH ALL THE DOCTORS. I'm just saying, how awesome would it be? And also, some hints about accelerating the thing with the Weave and the last hints about the Doctor's regenerations- he's now able to regenerate a lot more than 12, so the show won't end at the 12th Doctor then!

The 42 spoilers are confusing, since not all of them are real? It does explain the wording of some of the hints, I guess, but there were several that got my attention-

18. “How could a fellow Gallifreyan stoop so low?”

The key word is Gallifreyan vs. Time Lord- that said, after EoT and the Master, he can't have too many high opinions of the Time Lords. So, maybe a regular Gallifreyan then? Someone that he knows, or someone who did something that managed to affront him still?

27. Susannah’s still alive.

This caught my attention, because it's similar enough to Susan. Who may be River and settle that whole affair?

39. Octavian wasn’t lying.

Which part? River not being trustworthy (we've already established that more or less), River killing a good man (confirmed by herself) or the Doctor not really wanting to know who she killed- I'm going to say the third one right now, but they're all vague enough...

Maybe River kills Rory? Except, Rory isn't that important in the 51st century...

41. The bones of the TARDIS.

This bothered me, because I'm immensely attached to the TARDIS. I don't like it when I get hints that say the TARDIS might die or blow up or otherwise stop being around. Though, it raises questions as to what the Silence is/wants.

Oh, and Bones. Right.

I almost forgot. What happened in the episode again? *speeds through*

Oh. Right. The squee is still gone. Not to bash or hate or anything on what they're doing, since it does make sense as to why they're doing it, but. GAH. Shipper heart.

I like how everyone knows that Angela's pregnant; poor Hodgins.

Stealing some short animated videos posted by adraekh , HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD WATCH- trois petits points, Le Royaume and Smoke My Christmas. I mean, they're well done and I like what they say (except for the hobo on; confused about that). Plus, the person who made them (gobelins) did a lot of animation videos, which may be of interest to some like grendelity and fadedfeathers .

But if you don't want to watch any, you really, really should watch the one right beneath because it is adorably cute, heartwarming and aERid0e0jrer.

SO HEY WORLD. Tell me something awesome regarding how you are.

EDIT: And now I'm no longer a teen. I feel old(ish). Not really. Not any different. Also, to whom it may apply, as much of a nice idea as it seems to call me at midnight, it is actually a bad idea because I shower around then and- it's just awkward for all parties.

my chemical torment, tv: doctor who, recs: videos, tv: bones, life is a farcical sitcom, amusement is dear
