Leafs all Adrift, scattered

Poll To skip, or not to skip?
This is what I call a soap box post. Cause basically, it's a soap box of mixed contents.

To start things off, I went on another successful raid to Goodwill today. I picked up Sophie's World, Snow Falling on Cedars, and the full version of The Brothers Karamazov. And a really ridiculous looking hat that I have no good use for.
On the way back, a random guy walked up to my roommate and they engaged in a conversation. Apparently, it went a bit like this: the guy asked my roommate something, then they walked towards me. And during the time I was talking to the guy, he kept saying something to the extent of how I was a lucky man and indicating towards my roommate. And then he mentioned the word boyfriend in reference to me.
Oh, boy.
Apparently, the guy thought my roommate was a girl, and asked him out on a date. So by some instinct, my roommate said he was in a relationship and decided to use me, of all people. It was great.

On to the list of ridiculous, notable/painful things that happened to me: I got my arm stuck in the elevator. Cause I was running get to the elevator before it closed, so I stuck my arm in. Except these elevators aren't too smart- you apparently have to wave your hand in a certain section of them for them to open back up. So meanwhile, I was sitting there with an arm stuck in the elevator, and for my efforts, have a slightly discolored bruise.
And then, later on in the day, when I was hauling my laundry down the stairs, I got in the brilliant idea in my head to go and try to kick it down the stairs. It actually worked really well. Except that I was standing on the drawstring when I kicked it, so I had my foot jerked out from under me. And likewise, landed on my bottom/back and injured my pride to an immeasurable degree. Nothing else was broken, except the last item.

Shards of Alara had a Pre-release today, that I didn't manage to attend. Sadly. But I'll make do until the actual set is released.
I was browsing around, and found this. Go read and enjoy it as you might or might not.
The chem professor who I emailed last week about undergrad research mailed me back. Except the appointment is at the same time as my Lang class, so I don't know if I want to see about rescheduling it or just taking this one, since I'm almost never free as it is. Hence the lovely poll, as seen above.

I've found some new music (or rather, me and Gettings found one at around the same time in a really freaky coincidence): Blackmore's Night. They're apparently a folk rock band, and they've got some pretty nice songs, like Wish You Were here. And Windmills, a lovely tribute to Don Quixote. But we've also got a semi-Sansa theme song: Queen for a Day.

And summer would be every day
We'd dance and sing all afternoon
And rain would wash troubles away
Every wish would be granted for me
If I could be Queen for a Day

And when the night grew cold and dark
And worries ran too deep
Angels would surround my bed
And carry me off to sleep

It's not the best fit, but it's a good description of what her views/character was like for most of the books (so far, at least). If the word 'Angels' was 'Knights' instead, it'd be perfect.

Life's been a rollercoaster to me recently. This whole weekend seemed to be a rollercoaster ride of sorts- things go up for a spell, then down for another spell. Up and down. Life is such, and always left of center. Never what it should be. Never permanent, always transitory; we’re all fluttering flowers, adrift in the wind. So easily scattered.

And Sanderson has a new chapter out. I should go read it and normally would, but I'm actually just too tired to. I need to sleep, like, now. I'll post about it tomorrow, when I'm thinking more clearly.

music, taken with epiphanies, amusement is dear
