I'm still getting emails from my unit so I just received word about this. This is pretty awesome. I know since I was a tech, my maternity leave was different, but are AD/AGR moms charged leave for their maternity period?
This message announces Army guidance for paternity leave authorized by the recent change to law (Title 10) contained in the 2009 NDAA. On 14 Oct 08 the President signed the NDAA for FY 09 to authorize 10 days of paternity leave to be used in connection with the birth of a child. Paternity leave may be granted in addition to other leave authorized.
The leave is non-chargeable and is being retro'ed back 1 Oct 08. It's not applicable to single soldiers fathering a child out of wedlock.
