BPO (Basic Post-Flight Inspection) :"This inspection consists of checking the aircraft to determine if it is suitable for another flight by performing visual examination of certain components, areas, and systems to assure no defects exist which would be detrimental to further flight."
So basically what that means is you've gottta inspect every nook and crany, top to bottom in that jet. Which includes (but is not near limited to) jumping the intakes and inspecting the forward part of the engines, jumping the exhaust nozzles and inspecting everything in the rear engine section, making sure no oil/hydraulic filters tripped durning flight, no overtemps, no loose rivets, proper reservoir/nitrogen levels, proper x-dimensions on all of the gear shock struts, visual inspectons on all flight control surfaces (top and bottom), rudder/aileron/stab servocylinders (actuators) serviceability, annnnd hundreds of other conditions...which i could keep on listing for hours lol. Soooo pretty much all the way down to every last rivet and fastener (which there are thousands of haha). On a good day, this whole inspection takes about 2 hrs.
Sooo tomorrow I'm going at attempt #1 (and hopefully it'l stay at that) for my BPO Certification. I'm gonna to have an instructor walking arround with me tomorrow watching me uncomfortably close to do the inspection, asking me question after question after question on any system on any part of the jet, all of which must be answered correctly to pass >_<...hmmm, so i really hope all the studying thats gone on night after night kicks in tomorrow.
So after this is finished, all I have left to do is Launch and Recovery which should be oh so fun :). I finally get to converse with the pilots for a matter of a couple minutes haha. I seriously have so much respect for them...its craaaaazy.
Hmmm so I look back over these past 6 and a half months, and it makes me really really happy that I've pushed myself to get through all of this. The edges on the puzzle are just about complete, now its time to start filling in the full picture =).
I'll be back in portland 2 weeks from today!! Ahhhhh I'm so excited to see all my friends and family...its been soooo long...I wonder how much has changed?
