back in the cybercafe to record my European wanderings, i find myself thrilled that we've been blessed with gorgeous weather (up to 20C everyday) despite checking weather in toronto prior to departure and seeing nothing but overcastness and rain..
took yet another side trip by train yesterday, this time into Haarlem just west of Amsterdam - the town where we'd spotted a gothnight in a bar that we'd opted out of a few nights ago since we're not really ones to sit and drink in a bar..
altho' this time around, i'd read in my guidebook about beaches nearby and thought that it would be cool to go see the ocean and beachlife.. got out of the train station in Haarlem and determined that we were still well away from the beaches at Zandervoot, so we reboarded and got out at the proper stop..
wow! only about twenty or so minutes from downtown Amsterdam, and here we were on the shores of the ocean - sun beaming in the sky and not a cloud visible anywhere! definitely nice to see a chance of scenery, so we strolled looking for ice cream while snapping pix and getting a bit of a tan..
space cake experience left me feeling not too inclined to retry that experience, so i declined offerings to return to the rockery later that eve, and instead we watched music videos then went out for a bit to eat..
Toronto's definitely not so alive after midnight as Amsterdam is! definitely'll miss some of this once we're gone..
.. today? slowish last day as we take our time, do a bit of last minute things, then'll have to return to start packing for our early morning train trek into Germany tomorrow morning! the relaxing part of our trip is about done, and the partying part if about to begin!
