Hunt/Brandt

I would love to see a fic where the end of the movie does not happen, and Brandt enters a tentative relationship with Hunt while he battles his own guilt and constantly trying to decide if he should tell Hunt the truth. Hunt wonders why he just cannot get Brandt to completely open up to him. Happy ending please!

(Discussion of Character Death, AU--I never saw Mission: Impossible 3, so I didn't know anything about Julia until tonight. Apologies to the OP if I missed the mark.)
. in the open . The downside to the Honeymoon phase (and they totally went through the Honeymoon phase, even if Ethan kicked Benji's ass for saying it) is that you don't pick up on the subtle things. Not like he doesn't fold towels right or why the hell can't he remember to leave his cellphone outside the bedroom-those things are... little annoyances

"What is it?" Ethan asks, feeling like, here in the dark, he might have the chance to get whatever is going on into the open.
Will doesn't even roll over. "What?"
"The fact that even when we're both in DC, you're still somewhere else."
"Somewhere else?"
At this point, Will knows Ethan's lifting an eyebrow in disbelief, in challenge. He sighs, so incredibly tired of it, the guilt and the shame, and how he can't trust himself to ever really relax lest the secret burst out of him at the worst moment.
He lets the silence grow, listening to Ethan's breaths and matching them to his own as Will relents and burrows back into the solid bulk of his lover. He savors the feel of him, the scent of him, for a while, committing everything he can to memory before he steels his courage and says, "I was there, in Croatia. With Julia."
Ethan's grip around Brandt's waist never wavers.
"I'm so sorry, Ethan. I screwed up," he goes on. "I was the lead on your protection detail. I knew there were hostiles... Julia's dead because of me."

OP here, and omg LET ME WORSHIP YOU for I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH. It's exactly what I had in mind when I prompted you, and you added so many lovely touches to my idea!
- I love the mention of the Honeymoon period and I can just imagine how giddy happy these two men are during it hehe. - Love Brandt's glare being able to reduce the younger agents to tears. Badass haha. - Love the quiet contentment in their relationship. There's just something very quiet but very invested and deep about their relationship that I love throughout the fic. - Omg I extra love that you even mention their house in details. I have such a house details kink. - I love the way Ethan is so gentle with Brandt, and his reactions to Brandt finally letting the secret out are really perfect, and so tender and loving ;_____; - Ending with that kiss was such a lovely touch.

OP, thank you for the awesome prompt and I'm so ridiculously happy that you loved it! :D
The honeymoon period and the house details I have to admit are some of my own little kinks--domesticity--so I'm all smiles that you liked it. And I had to include something with Brandt showing off that he's just as kick-ass at being an Analyst as he is being an Agent, because let's face it: Brandt's awesome. :p
The tenderness I was a little worried about. Writing it, I was worried it was too soft, so I'm glad it was the right amount and that you loved it.
