he’s scaling that wall once again
the pieces glued together
though not quite dry
a little more experienced
yet still blindly naïve
he’s left a mattress beneath
to soften the blow
the next time he reaches for the sky
only to find the ground below
but this time reaching a little further
and climbing a little higher
only to find the stars further out of reach
and the ground less friendly than the times before
all the king’s horses
and all the king’s men
rush back
to put humpty together again
and as soon as his lumps are no more
its back up the wall again
to reach for more stars
even if it means falling further once more
