- I am about to explain my clever analogy for today. See, in my experience, the most ubiquitous marginal internet ads are about 1) "how to quickly lose x number of pounds of embarrassing stomach fat by obeying this one simple rule" or 2) "the secret to achieving whiter teeth." Well, cellular debris is always floating around inside of my eyes, but I'm usually unaware of their shadows in my field of vision - my perception tends to "edit them out" of my immediate awareness. Anyway, I guess I'm saying that I've arrived at a point where I "edit out" those ads (I'd certainly like to think so, at least). Still, I suppose the analogy fails insofar as those nasty little ads aren't peculiar to my personal optical physiology - now that would be sick and twisted.
- Got the old "you have such long fingers - do you play the such-and-such?" comment again the other day. I usually say something like, "no, they're not instrument-playing hands. They're good for painting, drawing, and opening jars, though."
