I guess I've been kind of quiet on these...there's been plenty to see and look at, but the novelty of talking animals wore a little. Is it weird that I'm more curious about the wolf that doesn't talk?

Anyways, I'm Johnny, and...um...not really a detective here...maybe I could start a new agency. I dunno. We could do a game? I'll tell you two ( Read more... )

I'm gonna say...the second one.

You don't think I'd hang out with an older crowd?

I picked the one I thought was least likely to be the lie. Am I right?

But you're supposed to look for the lie... Okay, fine. My neighborhood's full of married couples with little kids, or seniors. I talk with some of the boys, but we're not close or anything, you know? So yeah, #2 is true.

...Hm. Probably should've told people to lock their responses. I don't know how to do it, myself. Do you know?

Well enough, though you're right. It doesn't do much good now. If it helps, I didn't look at the other responses.

So, what's a car?

It's like a carriage, or a wagon--except instead of horses or oxen pulling it, it pushes itself along. They're becoming pretty popular now, since they figured out a way to make them cheaper.

[PERK.] Oh, that sounds like the fontech we've been developing back home.

What's fontech?

[Oh God, Johnny.]

[Oh dear.]

Wonderful.

Sure, but why?

Okay, so in my world we have fonons, which are the basic particles of sound. Depending on their fonic signature -or the rate at which they vibrate- they represent a different element that when combined with others forms all matter. You with me so far?

Wait, are we talking periodic table elements or elements like light and darkness? But yeah, otherwise I think I got it.

Light and shadow are two of them; the others are fire, water, earth and wind.

Fontech is the combination of machinery and fonic artes, or the use of fonons to manipulate nature around you. For instance, we've achieved flight by combining the use of mass third fonon -wind- manipulation and machinery to make the best of its uses. Or in other cases, we've developed a steam engine that utilizes the fifth -fire- and fourth -water- fonons to produce the steam necessary to propel various locomotives forward, much like the cable transports in Baticul only less archaic. We're trying to find a way to stabilize the process for smaller vehicles, but we keep running across the problem of overheating.

Or rather, we did, but just before I arrived here we'd found a way to reroute the unused fourth fonons to act as a coolant- it really was an amazing breakthrough, and I was so excited to get our other project jump-started with the discovery but...well. As you can see, I suddenly became otherwise preoccupied.
