I have not tried to use Filial Magic since the recent events, but to learn them...

A predisposed elemental or emotional affinity will help greatly, and while I have yet to attempt this myself, I do believe that one can learn from a Spirit of opposite affinity as well, if one perseveres and is patient.

Well, I definitely have perseverance. [Patience? That's a little more questionable.]

Have you already decided on which Spirit to seek out, or would you like to know to which you may hold a strong affinity with first?

Tell the truth, I don't think I'd have a particularly strong affinity with any of them... I don't have an element.

Then personality may be the best option. Nala and Kipinn, of healing and wind, however, are both Spirits easy to get in touch with and learn from. Nala is nurturing and kind, and Kipinn is carefree and playful. She is found near the clinic, and he is most commonly near the woods, at the base of the mountain.

Tsinku, of thunder, is determined and intelligent. Faeren, of Earth, is gentle and shy. Eferin, of fire, is impulsive and passionate. Sona, of water, is collected and somewhat haughty, and Hyt, of Light, is very quiet and difficult to find... Which is why he is the hardest to learn from, of them all.

I guess...Lenny would probably call me impulsive, heh. And I'm pretty determined. So...thanks, that helps a lot.

There are more information available at the library - it would be a good place to further your preliminary research. Nevertheless, you are welcome.

[A small pause.]

If the books are unavailable, then please seek out an individual by the name of Klarth. I am certain that he would have them in possession.

Guessing he's...the local bookworm?

He was a scholar in my world, and have only recently arrived here. He is also a summoner, and calling upon Spirits is his only means of fighting. That makes him highly inquisitive on this matter - he was still researching the filial spirits, the last I have heard of him.

[This boils down to "resident bookworm" in Johnny's head, especially given that the only summoner he's known is a university professor. ...He knows better than to say that, though.]

Oh, okay! Yeah, sounds like he'd be an expert. ...Having only summons in a fight, though...isn't that a little risky?

[She would have just blinked and kept that in mind even if you did, :|b]

...

He occasionally smacks monsters on the head with his glossy magazine book.

Do you have any other questions?

Nah. I think that's it.
