a snake dream

Not such a good night's sleep last night, but still managed to retain dream matter.

I found a snake on [some object I carry around with me all the time, like keys or cell phone]. A small, light beige snake with knowing, half-lidded eyes and a mouth that curled at the edges and made it appear to smile. The shape of its head almost resembled an alligator more than a snake.

I thought it was going to bite me, so I threw the snake and my cell phone/keys/whatever it was in the myrtle in my parents' front yard. I felt more squicked out than afraid, though. I just didn't want to touch it to get to my important item.

One of the next door neighbors came by (the Boy Scout's dad) and I told him what happened. I either asked him to kill the snake, or he took it upon himself to do so. He trampled its head with the heel of his shoe and ground it into the dirt, but the snake didn't die. It slithered toward the neighbor's fingers instead.

"Watch out!" I said.

"I don't think this kind is even poisonous," the neighbor replied.

"I know; it just looks evil."

Later, I moved through a series of rooms that may have been communal spaces in a college dormitory. They had that feel. I had trouble getting through all the people moving furniture and clustered around the sink. Not remembering so much of that one.
