After watching slam dunk. I was really awed by the depth of the characters, especially as the story developed, you could really see that there was some power shining from the depth of their personalities.
For example in the shohoku team.
I really admire Akagi. He is not the most good looking or the most gifted but he really worked at it hard to achieve what recognition he has now. Also basketball is not the only thing he's good at. he manages to top Physics and English as well. Despite being made fun of sometimes by Hanamichi, he is really a pillar of morale. For instance. During the game with Shoyo I think, even though he broke his foot and could barely walk, he returned to the court and helped his team carry it out because he knew the importance of his presence as team captain. And he will pursue his dream of achieving the best, and nurtures this to be his team members dreams as well. When he is defeated by Uozumi he recognises that he must not let his personal loss affect him but works to not let his team down. Thats why he makes such a great leader. THAT is responsibility.
Next I admire Mitsui. He's the one gifted and named MVP, but having been praised all his life, he is let down by an injury, and emotionally he begins sliding down a dark pit for a long period. However, once he realises his goals again, he'd do anything to climb back. It is evident in how he gives up the college exams for the sake of a winter season whilst akagi and kogure retires. Mitsui supports his team mates, and tries harder than ever. Thats why he's commendable, because he has gone down the wrong path and worked hard to return to the right path. And that is hard.
Ryota is one of my favourite characters, because he is determined and pretty friendly with everyone, never holding a grudge. I love him cause he loves Ayako so much. They aught to get together. Also, he's shorty, but he never lets it be his disadvantage.
Hanamichi is loud and obnoxious. But we discover he's a street kid and he lost his dad. Seen when Anzai has a heart attack and Hanamichi gets emotional, scaring all his team mates. When Hanamichi is on a mission, he is determined, tries hard and unstoppable. (except maybe by Gori's power punch or Ayako's paper fans. hmm. whats with paper fans and discipline ...*thinks of Sanzo*)
Rukawa. He's just too cool for school. Lol. but he fails his exams as much as Hanamichi does. (as much as I do *cries*) When he is determined he becomes a monster. Er. He has a scary fan club.
Ayako. I love ayako cause she's smart sporty and different from most weak anime chicks. she's made of the same stuff as misato from Evangelion, and the guys all respect her. Haruko sucks bad.
My other favourite camp is of course camp Ryonan:
Uozumi is the best, cause he starts off even worse than "Gori", and ends up being this indominable force on the court from the paces that he pushes himself through. Also, he choses to become a chef. U should see everyone's faces when he announces "I want to fulfil my dream. I want to become a chef!" rofl.
*****AKIRA SENDOH*********
leaves off and goes to google images of him! Ah... what can I say. he's cute. I like him cause he's famous, but modest and is always smilling. Unlike Rukawa who comes across as "dont touch me you freaks". Sendoh likes fishing. I wish he didnt go to Ryonan, cause Ryonan lost and after Uozumi left it aint gonna b much fun. But Sendoh does get to become captain. Anyway, all his team members absolutely trust him, and one word from him can boost their confidence ten fold. He likes to achieve goals one by one, setting tasks that are not too daunting, but will build up to form an impressive cresendo. I really like the way he is smiling to everyone, even people who detest him, like the prick Rukawa. Sendoh takes everything as they come, but he is also a tide turner.
Anyway I'm really sad now the anime is finished at episode 101 and everything is left hanging. aw damn. but yes. Slam dunk was great and people should watch it if u can. O wells. I guess at 2:30 am in the morning no one is gonna read this for a while yet.
