I heard a group of you went into the forest and discovered something there. Something I may be able to help with. Please contact me here, or arrange for a meeting place so we can talk. I would like to know more.
Also, Jack? Alex? I heard you went into the tunnels too. Did you both make it out in one piece?
Did you find anything?
holloways keep,
tunnels,
chloe saunders,
forest

[ He is grinning. She can't see it but it would be in his voice.]
Many a thing was found in both places. The rather short answer is: they are not a place you would wish to stay long.
[Yes. He found things alright.]

[And...that there was a bit confusing, but Chloe's interest is piqued.] You mean you found something in the tunnels and forest? [Now she's eager, sitting on the edge of her chair.] Wh-where c-can I find you? Do you know how to make your entries private?
W-we need to talk.

[He likes you, quite a bit now Chloe. Be a guarantee that he'll remember the name with the face!]
I happen to be doing my best impression of a shipwright in the woodworker's shed if you would be of a mind to join me?
[And since he is constructing a mast and boom, also happens to be sans a number of shirt like coverings.]

Good! I'll be right there.
[It took her a little longer than she expected, she got turned around a couple times, but Chloe ultimately finds the correct place, and the correct Jack--sans a shirt. Both eyebrows shoot up as she quickly and respectfully averts her gaze. It was a good thing she decided against bringing Derek, though now even she was having second thoughts. Still. Info! And Jack seemed respectable enough. Mostly. Maybe. Hopefully.]
H-hi. [She steps closer. Maybe if she tries to ignore that fact?]

As is, the good captain hears her approach and he turns to greet her. His eyebrows both go up as her own do. She can't be so delicate as to never seen a man without a shirt. As far as the pirate knew, even ladies tended to look over the help. Sometimes the the eyes they used were more looking like the help was a lot of horses and mules that needed tending to than men but they were not at all shy.
Oh he likes her more and more. See? Look at the pirate swagger just that much closer, putting down the axe he was using to rough hew the end of his soon to be mast!]
Good seeing you again there, Chole.
Now what was it you were wishing to be speaking to me about?

The things you found. [She gets right to business--she's too eager not to. She leans forward with focused intent, now.] What did you find, Jack? In the forest and in the tunnels?
[And did it involve the dead?]
Reply
His grin is wide indeed as she leans forward and expresses her very eager interest. Which was really her undoing.]
A great many things, love.
None near of which offers a better view than the one I have now.
Would you like to have a look?
[One of them very well might. He tends to carry his treasures on him, or well in his overcoat. Which happens to be hanging over a bench just a little ways away. ]

M-many? [Is he making her uncomfortable? Maybe just a bit--but it's something she can look over for now while there is info to be had--answers to unveil.] Like...?
[Then she is blushing vibrantly, eyes widening as she straightens back up and clutches a hand over her shirt--or her heart. She stops breathing for a moment, chastising herself and her ability to blush so easily.]
I would like to see, if you don't mind. [Before she lost her nerve and ran for the hills--er, her room.]

There is a fondness for making the more attractive sex blush that he is not at all opposed to in the slightest. It is an activity that he delights in.
Still, he recalls this female creature being a bit more shy than the normal sort and leans back as to not crowd her. ]
I do indeed have a number of items of peculiar origins that I have required but before I go and show it all to you, I'll ask a favor of you in return.
[Wait for it....]
You know what you did earlier? With the journal, where it was addressed to me? What was that all about? There was wax. It was odd. Was that what you meant by a 'private entry'?
[Clearly not the private entry that the good captain originally was thinking about.]
Reply
A f-favor? O-oh! Of course I can show you. [Especially if she was able to see what Jack had found in this mysterious place.] Here... [And she moves to show Jack how to make a sealed entry, explaining carefully, then turning to see if he understood.]
See? It's a private entry this way because once you seal it, only the person you intend to see it is able to.

Huh. Well, now. That's useful.
Very useful indeed.
[Sharp eyes look over the younger woman.]
Now, where'd you learn that trick?
Reply
[Blinking under that sharp look, Chloe frowns a bit, wondering if she was about to get Nieta in trouble. Surly not, though, right?]
N-N-Nieta showed me. Sh-she showed quite a few of us, for helping bathe the pups. I guess it's also useful to be helpful around here, so you gain something in return.
So...about those items, Jack.
Reply
There be more useful things to learn, of that, you may be assured, lass.
[Then it is joined by the other.]
Staff? Well now! That is good to hear. Something to keep in mind now...
[Something indeed.]
Ah, yes! A little eager are we?
[It comes with a bit of a smirk, but he moves away to the pile of his clothes in the corner. For an older man, he's sure sporting the muscles there, isn't he? ]
Reply
True...
[Her small smile wavers a little as Chloe thinks of Nieta. She really hopes she isn't getting her into trouble.]
Wouldn't you be curious, Jack? [He seemed like the sort who would be. She follows closely, peering around him slightly to catch a glimpse of what might be before him, then moves back to patiently await whatever it was. She is steadfastly looking away from Jack's bared back, thank you.]

Touche.
[So here. He pulls out the jar first. With black dried up pieces inside. The jar is odd, to Jack, being that it's plastic.]
This, I would not open. It smells horrid and will give your head a bit of a spin.
[He pulls out the blank journal. Loose paper, and rolled within a circular object is gold leaf.
A grey rock comes out.
A small exacto-knife, with the blade sharp.
Jack looks down and chuckles heartily.]
Now there be something I did not notice.
Rock. Paper. Scissors.
There's a joke being played I think.
[So the knife being a pair of scissors is a bit of a stretch...]

[The second piece Jack showed her was puzzling, and Chloe tried to get a good look at all the pieces to the whole.] What? I--I don't understand. The blade here is sharp. [Chloe reaches into her pocket, pulling out her switchblade and slowly opening it. She looks at it curiously, then attempts to cut herself with its dulled edge. She didn't bleed.] How is this blade sharp while the one I had on me here has been dulled?
Nice. [Chloe's brows lift in slight bemusement as a wry smile crosses her lips. Still. Any and all guesses as to what he held were open, as far as Chloe was concerned.] Have you been able to discover anything with these?
