[Chloe awoke to blood caked to her form--and panicked. She screamed, then proceeded to take a freezing shower as she scrubbed her body raw until all traces of blood came off. Shaking, preturbed, scared, Chloe thumbs through her journal before flipping it open. Even now, she uses video.]
Wh-wh-whu--
What is g-going on h-here? Wh-where a-am I?

I'm Kairi. I'm making ham and cheese rolls, if you want one.

[That's the first time Chloe hears that, and it's quite a relief, actually. She doesn't quite understand why that means so much to her, though.]
I-it's nice to m-meet you, K-Kairi. Um. I--I would like that.
[She doesn't remember how to cook, yet. Sadly, even when she regains her memories, cooking will still evade her.]

I'll bring something up to you.
[It's easier than describing the route to the kitchen.]

Th-thank you...

She's brought a wooden board with a couple of (pretty dry, but okay) bread rolls, a small wheel of cheese, some unevenly sliced ham and a bread knife on it. It's clear she's prepared most of this herself.]

Um. C-come on in.
[Chloe motions with her hand.]
W-want me to t-take that for you? You...you did a-all of this yourself?
[The food looked like heaven.]

Oh! Sorry, I'm Kairi.
Thank you.
[She holds out the board for Chloe, steadying the knife on top.]
And yes, but, it's not much. I'm not a very good cook.
[Just look at that tattered ham. It looks like she tried to tear it off with her bare hands.]

Ch-Chloe. I--I think...
[This was all still so very confusing. Accepting the board, Chloe moves to place it on the middle of her bed. She didn't mind crumbs--and there would be more room for both her and Kairi to sit and eat.]
It l-looks great. Thank you. [Kairi won't hear Chloe complaining. Chloe motions to one side of her bed, moving to sit on the other.]
Y-you will have some, too, r-right?

Well, I was making one for me when I saw your entry. So, sure!
[And she began inexpertly shaving cheese off the wheel. Why couldn't it already be sliced!]
So, do you know if your friend...
[It takes her a moment to remember his name.]
Is Derek okay?

So, h-how do I--
[Smiling somewhat uncertainly, Chloe motions to the foodstuffs between them.]
Put it all together?
[Chloe rubs at her face a little, sheepish and yet clueless. Maybe if she just follows Kairi's lead, and does what she does? Then Kairi's next question has Chloe blushing to the roots of her hairline, and she stopped breathing as her heart seizes a little bit. She takes a deep breath, a silly smile on her face.]
D-Derek.
[It was so weird to think about. The unknown--yet obviously they knew each other. She believed him when he said their scents were all over each others' rooms. But what did that mean?!]
H-he's okay. Fine. N-nice. I--I mean. [Stomach doing flip-flops, Chloe tries to think of the right words to say. Finally she looks up at Kairi with all the confusion in the world-- ( ... )

And failing.
She covered her mouth with her hand as Chloe spoke, unable to keep her laughter silent.]
Well, I think he is too.
[She hadn't really thought about it before. But it made sense, especially with the way Chloe was acting now.]
And you just do this.
[Picking up her roll, Kairi sliced it open, and then carefully set the knife back on the board for Chloe to use. She then stuffed a slice of ham in the middle, before again regarding the cheese.]
So, you don't remember whether you heh, liked him or not?
Reply
Y-yeah?
[Biting her lip, Chloe can't seem to get that grin off her face.]
H-he's really nice. And... c-cute...
[Well. Her blush won't be going away any time soon.]
Oh!
[Copying Kairi's movements, Chloe carefully accepted the knife and cut her roll similarly--if not a bit more crudely--than Kairi had done. After adding ham, Chloe followed Kairi's gaze to the cheese, and assumed she understood the other girl's dilemma. There was no way all of that would fit in the roll--let alone be something they could take a bite out of.]
Wh-wh-what? O-oh...
[Biting her lip, Chloe considered that a little.]
A-actually... I don't r-remember much of a-anything. [She didn't know if she had family, or friends, or where she lived before coming here.]
B-but... I don't know. I--I think... I trust Derek. You know? When he's a-around I feel... [This time when she smiles, ( ... )

[She doesn't have a word for it, though she thinks maybe she knows the feeling.
And she has conquered the cheese. Kairi momentarily distracts herself adding it to her roll before she speaks again.]
Well, you know how you feel now. That's the most important thing. You know it's important for you to remember.

I-it sounds ch-cheesy, doesn't it?
[She doesn't know where she got that word from, but she's pretty embarrassed. It was how she felt, though. Maybe she shouldn't have to feel awkward, saying such things.]
I-I--
[Taking a deep breath, Chloe blushes again, heaving out a deep sigh and relaxing finally, giving a nod.]
Y-yeah...

[Kairi waves her roll as she gestures hurriedly to forestall that thought. Good thing Chloe doesn't mind crumbs.]
It's not cheesy at all. It's romantic.
[It's familiar.]
You're lucky.

I am...
[She knew that without a shadow of a doubt. It was a nice feeling, this. Suddenly, Chloe turns curious eyes Kairi's way.]
Wh-what about you? Do you f-feel this way ever?
D-do you have a b-boyfriend?
