I'm attempting to write my novel. Or rather a novel I've had in my head.
So far I'm at 31000 odd words, but am ten pages behind my goal of ten pages a day. (Busy weekend of post-wedding reception BBQ)
I'm awake and can't sleep but my brain won't let me write at the moment.
I'm kinda not sure where to go. I've got a goal with the book, but I want this one element in it, without it becoming something antithetical to the theme I'm attempting to subvert. In more plain English, I want to write a fantasy novel about a boy who isn't special because a magical something chose him, god, magic item, horse, or whatever. Instead what makes him special is his own unrelenting drive to make a difference.
The problem is I have a scene where a magical thing shows up and wants a favor and helps him as part of the desire to earn the favor. Yet that seems it maybe contrary to the story of him doing things on his own, its only a nod of help, with a BIG catch. Yet will it come too close to "magical thing picking him to be special?
