A Refuge, Darkly [Poem]

Sep 20, 2007 05:56

On the eastern horizon, the sun.
driving the shadows.

Scattering each to
dark refuge,

They hide
within my heart.

Lurking, lingering,
the black despair
coils tight.

I cannot breath
I cannot think
I struggle on

Against
the vicious
serpentine
evil that lays in
wait within.

I long for night
to be free.

In my own refuge
under pale moonlight.
