Apologies for the blatant copypasta from below. >_>;;;ghostin_myshellJune 22 2009, 00:47:42 UTC
I do, but sometimes even reality doesn't even feel like it's real. If this ship is any example....
[She shakes her head a little then runs her finger along the face of her watch. A faint buzzing noise echoes over the Sphere. Her networking is down. Time to do this the old-fashioned way.]
I'm getting really sick of this, so all of you listen up and listen good.
[She reaches behind her to pull out her handgun, which she extends in front of her. She has no intention of firing, just to make sure she has their attention.]
I don't know if it's because I left last year or what, but this isn't like any of you. Especially not you, Batou. Did you all allow yourselves to get your cyberbrains hacked?
[There was no response for once as she inched closer. They all parted ranks to reveal the shadowy figure at the back. It was a tall man with a disfigured face, who had spoken earlier. On sight, Motoko grips her gun a little tighter and advances a few steps forward.]
So, you're behind this, are you?
To the contrary, my dear, I'm not the mastermind behind this plan. Not this time, anyway.
[Before she could ask who, her friend, Kurutan, steps behind him and pulls at a zipper. Gouda's face and body falls away to reveal... Motoko herself. She takes a sudden step back in shock.]
But... how?
[Her double, much to Motoko's surprise, smiles at her before speaking.]
Really, I thought you would have been smart enough to realize why we're the reason for our greatest fear. Everyone we've known and trusted [she gestures around] turning on us simply because our only organic piece is our ghost?
It's rooted in my own insecurities, isn't it?
[Her double nods, a satisfied little smile on her face.]
It's like the others have said. You're as human as you believe yourself to be. You've always known that, and yet you tended to forget it.
I won't forget anymore and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise.
[Her other self flashes her a little peace sign before walking towards the door, where she disappears. The others follow, each one offering a smile or, in the case of Batou and Kuze, a little pat on the shoulder. Soon, the image curtaining her room statics and returns to all its rusted and corroded splendor.]

I guess that settles that, then.
