My Name is Bruce...
...and I'm possibly tired of it.
I would imagine dealing with fans all the time would get tiresome. Not being able to have private moments in public and always being asked the same questions over and over is weird. I know that. My Name is Bruce is the title of Bruce Campbell's new film. Last night at the Landmark downtown, Bruce was available for a Q & A after the feature where the film spotlights being Bruce Campbell. It has fanboys, jokes about a tanking career and so on. It's Bruce fucking Campbell.
I have been thinking about last nights show all day. After the film (which was funny and great) and the Q&A, I just can't get over the impression that I have. I feel like there is such a big woe is me cloak over the whole thing. He's such an icon. He's hilarious. It's bothersome that BC isn't comfortable being himself and isn't making better movies.
My Name is Bruce is a great thing. It's self serving in a lot of ways but I can't get over that he's not doing better. I don't think he can either. After watching the film, I thought to myself, Wow this would make a great series. Bruce VS (insert monster here.) If your already doing it once, why not just keep improving it. I would love to see Bruce VS The Zombies. It wouldn't have to be like Evil Dead or Army of Darkness. It could just be a film about Bruce Campbell fighting the Undead but for real...AGAIN. It serves the fanboys something rich and allows BC to be himself. It would be better than him being wasted on a Tofu Demon which I enjoyed. However, I'm just saying Bruce Campbell is a great champion of the genre. I would love to see him get out of his rut.
