yippee-kai-yay

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the movie Iron Man. Robert Downey, Jr. is not your likely hero or super hero. I've never got into any comic books so these comic book stories turned blockbuster movies are new to me. RDJ's character in the movie was pretty despicable, but I grew to like him as the story unfolded. One ridiculous bit was Gwyneth Paltrow staggering about in towering stilettos. Was that necessary? I guess it was a guy thing. I loved the cool suiting up into the iron man part. It's such a guy movie with fast action and some of the ol' ultra-violence yet gratifying in another way, but I guess I like some of those guy movies. A few other "guy movies" that turned out to be really good were:

Rocky Balboa - If you can get past his steroided bod and botox, it's worth a watch. It's closest to the the original Rocky movie which was excellent. I can't believe I'm typing this but I believe Sylvester Stallone has some talent in the writing field.

Live Free or Die Hard - Bruce Willis as John McClane is a little jaded and a lot more weathered. But yippee-kai-yay muthafuckah, it's a high tech kick-ass ride.

Red Belt - I can't pronounce the name Chiwetel Ejiofor but he's is a talented actor. He was the nameless Operative from Serenity. I really felt for his character in this story of a righteous martial arts instructor trying to earn his keep in a town filled with ultra-cynics.
