Maybe... but while I was an exchange student in Germany I also traveled to Italy, Spain & Austria and I have also lived in the Netherlands. In all those countries I witnessed the eating of any long pasta with a spoon and fork. My host family was impressed that already ate it that way (because I already learned in the Netherlands) since the "Americans" ate only with a fork or cut it up. So I assumed "spoon & fork" was the European way but I guess not?
Well, spoon & fork is the European way, don't worry :) Although some people also eat it the "American way" too. But I've always been told by different people the real Italian way is with a fork only. I have to say it doesn't always work, it depends on the plate you're eating from :)

I've studied kung fu among other martial arts and still have trouble with it.
